Boulders and buttresses, rugged mountains, gold mining ruins, desert plains dotted with oddball trees—Joshua Tree National Park is a weirdly wonderful place. Nicknamed “J-Tree” by locals, the park is located about an hour from Palm Springs and lies at an ecological crossroads, where the high Mojave Desert meets the low Colorado Desert. That marriage results in amazing desert flora, including those wacky namesake trees (actually a type of yucca), and leafy groves of palm trees. Joshua Tree’s beauty shines around the clock, with vibrant sunsets melting into nights filled with uncountable stars perfect for stargazing adventures.
Start out in the park-adjacent city of Twentynine Palms, where the Joshua Tree National Park Visitor & Cultural Center (opened in 2022) will give you an informative overview of what to expect once you enter the park and also some background on the Native American tribes that have lived in this area for millennia.
While you're here celebrating with us, don't miss out on a whimsical visit to the World Famous Crochet Museum. Founded in 2006 by Shari Elf, this charming museum is a delightful roadside attraction showcasing a fascinating collection of crocheted creations.
Step inside this quirky museum and marvel at the creativity and craftsmanship displayed through a myriad of crocheted items. From adorable amigurumi creatures to intricate blankets and beyond, the museum offers a unique and colorful experience that's sure to put a smile on your face.
Located just a short drive from our wedding venue, the World Famous Crochet Museum is a perfect stop for those looking to explore the offbeat side of Joshua Tree. Best of all, admission is free, making it accessible to everyone.
Explore charming boutiques and art galleries in Downtown Joshua Tree, where you'll find a delightful mix of eclectic shops showcasing handmade jewelry, vintage finds, and local artwork. After a day of exploring, treat yourself to delicious meals ranging from authentic Southwestern cuisine to farm-to-table fare at cozy cafes and eateries. There's no shortage of culinary delights to discover during your stay.
And if you have time on Saturday, be sure to check out the Joshua Tree Farmer's Market, which goes from 8am - 1pm.
Pioneertown is an old west-themed community that was initially constructed as a 1940’s movie set. Hundreds of westerns and television shows were filmed along its historic Mane Street over the years. The town’s wooden storefronts and western-themed businesses draw thousands of visitors each year. For those interested in the town’s colorful history, a film museum on Mane Street provides a glimpse into the past.
Most visitors to Pioneertown, however, come for Pappy & Harriet’s Pioneertown Palace. Located in what used to be the Pioneertown’s cantina, Pappy & Harriet’s is a lively restaurant, dive bar and music venue all rolled into one. A variety of famous musicians have played at the venue over the years, from Paul McCartney and Lorde to Lucinda Williams.
