As told by the groom....A match commencing in Milan and evolving in San Diego.Janielle was studying abroad in Milan at Bocconi University Spring 2013. While eating the best food Italy has to offer and traveling throughout Europe, little did she know near the end of her semester that she would meet a special someone. Meanwhile, I was traveling throughout Italy with my Grandma, Mother Mary, and cousin, Alexandra. Mother Mary was taking Alexandra and I to all the spots she had gone with my Grandpa years prior. Near the end of the trip, I asked if I could extend my trip a few days and take the train to Milan to visit my friend Brandon, who was also studying at Bocconi.One of the nights I was in Milan, we went out to celebrate Brandon's birthday. Janielle was also friends with Brandon and joined the group for drinks and aperitivo. Of course we would love to say it was love at first sight, but that only happens in the movies. After getting to know one another that night and discovering we both lived in San Diego a spark ignited, I had to regretfully leave to go back home to California while Janielle finished her semester in Italy.Weeks of Facebook messaging went by as I tried to test the waters on Janielle's interest. Finally mustering enough courage, I asked Janielle for her phone number, since "that would be easier than Facebook messaging". Janielle obliged and our first date started with us watching a USA soccer game with friends. We began to hang out more frequently, doing a few of our favorite things: concerts, the beach, eating, breweries and hanging out with friends. We began officially dating after a Passion Pit concert when I asked Janielle if she would "go out" with me. From there, our similar sense of humor and personalities allowed us to grow closer and closer. Coupled with our passion for traveling, we gave way to a relationship that fit perfectly. In this time, we would travel to Europe and Asia and begin to explore the world together. We also began to appreciate each other's interest. I would end up attending famous ballet shows like The Nutcracker and Swan Lake, while Janielle would go surfing , test her skills on the soccer pitch, and watch "ball games" quite often (sometimes not by choice). Finally, to Janielle's surprise, I orchestrated a proposal on top of Mt Soledad, where I got down on one knee and asked her to marry me. Janielle was in such disbelief that she said "what...What...WHAT....WHHAATTTT". Also, special thanks to Brandon for capturing this moment without being noticed ;).All of this backstory brings us to today. As we continue to plan our wedding, we are so excited for all of you to celebrate with us and are so thankful for the role that each of you have played in our lives so far! See you all in September! Getting to Sonoma County

Sonoma County Airport (STS)

2200 Airport Boulevard East, Santa Rosa, CA 95403 This is the closest airport. Alaska Airlines is the only carrier and has direct flights from San Diego and LA. The Sonoma County Airport Express Shuttle picks up and drops off here, and there are also car rentals available.

San Francisco International Airport (SFO)

San Francisco, CA 94128 You can use the Sonoma County Airport Express or rent a car to get to Sonoma County. Approximately an hour and a half drive. You get to go over the Golden Gate Bridge, but watch out for traffic!

Oakland International Airport (OAK)

1 Airport Dr, Oakland, CA 94621You can use Sonoma County Airport Express or rent a car to get to Sonoma County. A scenic hour and twenty minute drive, usually better for traffic.

Walk

Although not the fastest, it is the most economical. You can walk from wherever you are located to Sonoma County, just make sure you leave early to make it in time!

Unfortunately, the Château de Fagent is unable to accommodate parking requests. Guests will be required to take a shuttle to and from the venue.Shuttles will be provided from the Borgfeldt Horse Ranch in Kenwood in order to transport guests up to the wedding location quickly and efficiently.Please try to arrive by 3:45 PM so we can have everyone up to the venue in time for the start of the ceremony. Parking and Shuttle Information

Uber is available in the main areas of Santa Rosa and Sonoma, but you may find yourself stranded if you are looking to request one from Kenwood. If you have never signed up for Uber, you can use the code "uberuberconnor" upon registering to receive $10 off your first ride.* *Please do not take an Uber directly to the venue as it is a one way street. Set your destination address to 2530 Bristol Road, Kenwood CA 95452 to be dropped off for the shuttles.

Nice hotel on the North side of Santa Rosa. The Fountaingrove Inn is offering our group a 20% discount on the best available rate at the time and based on availability. Please note that all Saturday night reservations require a 2 Night Minimum.

The Courtyard is located just West of the 101 right near Downtown Santa Rosa. There is a small block of rooms set aside for our group. The rates are $279 for 2 double beds or $289 for 1 king bed and all Saturday night stays require a 2 Night Minimum and the last date to book is 8/15/17.

Courtyard Santa Rosa

The Flamingo is a non-chain hotel on the East side of Santa Rosa and closest to the venue, but still about 15 mins from Kenwood. The rates at the Flamingo start at $139 on Thursday and then $239 on Friday/Saturday. There is also a 2 Night Minimum Stay on Saturday.
