We had initially met in August of 2020 at Walmart in Mitchell South Dakota. now if you know us, you know that didn't go to well haha. Sometimes I can have a smart mouth on me (thanks mom) and Isaac has some quick responses too. Long story short I called him a kid and he called me an old hag. We didn't get to know each other then and honestly we didn't remember this situation until a year later when we were living together haha. About 6 months after we initially met Isaac and I both swiped right. I was to chicken to send the first message and so was he. So he decided to send my profile to his friend Tate (thank you Tate for that haha). It all started from an " I like turtles" video on You tube.
A few short months later we had made it official.
Now this story of us wasn't always rainbows and sunshine. We've been through a lot in the last 3 years that taught us how we need to be there for each other, but my favorite story is when we actually got engaged.
We had gone down to New Mexico on a family vacation (although we were missing 2 of his siblings and his nieces and nephews), to their families cabin down in Ute Park.
Ute Park is in the middle of the mountains, and if you know me you know I don't like heights. We had been there for 4 days. We were going to all these crazy places to sight see for Carson and I (up in the mountains).
So on our way back to the cabin on Tuesday August 2nd, Isaac was driving like a racecar driver down this mountain... after it just got done raining. Okay he wasn't actually driving like that but it felt like it to me. I was anxious I was upset, P.S. sorry Carson, Sarah, and Barb I didn't mean to be that mean to him.
It was Barb and Jerome's last day of vacation, and they were getting ready to head out soon. Jerome came up with an excuse of trying to find a hotel to be able to stay a little while longer so they would be there see what it happen.
After they had found a hotel room Isaac, Jerome and I were sitting inside of the cabin. I was enjoying the scenery, if you ever get the chance to go. GO! After a few minutes Isaac broke the silence by asking me if I wanted to go dig up a cactus to remember this place by. We spent the next 20 minutes looking for the PERFECT cactus. None of them were good enough for Isaac. This was to small, this one is to big, this one doesn't look right.
He finally settled on a cactus and as I'm bent over trying not to kill this cactus by unearthing it I hear him saying my name right behind me. I didn't answer didn't look I just replied "what". " Turn around." And there he was down on one knee. I turn to look at his parents sitting on the porch of the cabin to see if this was a joke. It wasn't, I seen barb standing there crying, Jerome smiling, Carson smiling, and Sarah capturing the moment forever. This was the easiest thing I have ever said yes to.
Over the next couple of months we settled on a date, on the venue, and on the reception hall. He wanted a fall wedding, but it couldn't be on any opening days. So I spent an entire day looking at past, present, and the next year's opening dates. September 14th, to me this wasn't a coincidence. It was something special. We had also picked this day because of our papa's. I lost my papa on September 15, 2009 and Isaac lost his on September 17, 2022. We wanted to be able to bring joy back to this week for years to come.
We chose the church as this is a church that has been in the Kipp hearts for a long time. The venue, all of his sibling held their receptions there too, along with his parents, his aunts and uncles, and even grandparents.
Our wedding is going to be very family orientated, just as we are. We want to thank you all for choosing to be apart of the big day and celebrating with us. And thank you to the wedding party who decided to say yes as well, we wouldn't be able to do this with out you guys. We love you all.
