Q + A

When and where is the wedding?

To maximize time with our family and friends who live all across the US, we are jet setting to Mahekal Beach Resort in Playa del Carmen, Mexico.

All of our events will be at Mahekal and we encourage all of our guests to stay at the resort with us so we can enjoy time together at the pools, beaches, restaurants and common spaces throughout the grounds.

Thursday, November 14: Welcome party (5:30 - 7:30pm)

Friday, November 15: Wedding ceremony (4pm) followed by dinner and dancing under a full moon.

How many days should we visit?

The only events of our wedding celebration are on Thursday and Friday evenings (Nov. 14-15) but we’ll be arriving early in the week and staying through the weekend.

We appreciate that traveling such a distance isn’t easy, so we encourage you to make your trip as long of a vacation as feels comfortable.

How do we book our stay?

There are lots of different lodging options available within the resort, so take some time to look at accommodations on the Mahekal website and see what works best for you. Ocean View rooms will be in a more lively environment, while Garden View and Oasis are set back in quieter areas. We have a table with room styles and rates on the Travel page.

Which airport should we fly into?

Cancún International Airport (CUN)

*You will need a valid passport

How do we get to the resort? Do we need to rent a car?

No need to rent a car! There are many transportation options from CUN to Mahekal (about a 45 minute drive in normal traffic). Please note, you do need to book airport transfer ahead of time as there are no taxis or Uber/Lyfts at the airport. See more details on the Travel page.

Are babies and kids invited?

To give all our guests the opportunity to celebrate and relax, we encourage parents to take a vacation for themselves where possible.

If you want to talk about it, give us a call - we love you and your kids.

What should we wear?

We’ll be at the beach but looking to dress things up for our wedding events. Let’s be comfy and play in the sand during the day, then get polished up and dress to impress! We’ll share more when the wedding invitations go out.

What else is there to do in the area? Does the resort offer outings?

Mahekal Beach Resort features multiple pools and private beach areas, all served by waitstaff. There are also multiple restaurants on site, plus a sports bar with pool tables and ping pong. It’s a nice little campus to explore and where you’ll find hammocks and places to lounge all around.

The resort is in the heart of Playa del Carmen within walking distance of some great, inexpensive restaurants. Plus there is a beautiful beach with clear, turquoise water. Water sports and snorkeling outings available from many local providers.

It’s also easy to set up day trips with tour operators to see Mayan Ruins, caves and underground lakes, nature preserves with sea turtle experiences and the island of Cozumel.

We’ll post more recommended outings and featured offerings from the resort concierge soon!
