Car rental - When renting a car take theft & wheel cap insurance. Hertz is a good org to rent from.
Simcard - Highly recommend getting a simcard at the airport (it's more complicated buying this in a store in town), best to use Vodacom. Or if your phone is compatible buying an E-sim is also a good option, there are several platform, Airalo is a good one.
Getting around - Use Uber, cheap and reliable!
Parking: Ensure you always have some cash on you! In Cape Town and most touristy places there are informal parking guards. Pay them when you leave (not upfront!), 5-10 rand is an accepted amount to pay.
Tipping culture: 10-15%
Groceries: Woolworths is best! But can also be expensive. Cheaper alternatives which are still good: Checkers, PicknPay and Spar.
General safety: Don't leave your phone on the table (outside) in restaurants or hold it in your hand while walking. In general: be streetwise & follow your gut feeling

If you don't want to go to far out of town Beau Constantia, Constantia Glen and Eagles Nest Wines are great options.
Alternatively spend a day in the Franschhoek area. There is a wine tram that takes you past multiple wine farms, Book the tram here: https://winetram.co.za
