Q + A

So, how do we get to the venue if traveling from the U.S.? | No aplica para los que viven en Colombia

The best way, most likely, is to fly into Bogotá, Colombia first (airport code: BOG). From there, a domestic flight to El Edén International Airport (airport code: AXM) in Armenia, Colombia will get you as close to the venue as possible. How close? About a 20 minute drive or less depending on traffic! El Edén is an international airport and may have better flight options worth checking into, but just from experience Bogotá is the central hub for Colombia and most generally accessible. Medellin and Cartagena are the other major transit hubs from which domestic connections to El Edén can be taken.

What is the dress code? ¿Cuál es el código de vestimenta?

Cocktail attire. Guys, the request is for white long sleeve dress shirts and beige pants. This can include linen as we will be in a tropical setting. Do not worry about overheating in a full suit. Nobody is passing out at this wedding unless its from too much perreo! Ladies, formal long dresses of a singular color and comfortable shoes. Also, it should go without saying, but please no white dresses or tennis shoes.

So... I don't speak Spanish. How can I do this? | Si puedes hablar español, esto no es un problema para ti. Esta información es sólo para los gringos!

Well, download Duolingo! You got time to learn! Kidding, there will be extra assistance provided to facilitate things for those who do not speak the language. Also, you can download Spanish in the Google Translate app in advance! That way if you do not have data, you can still translate things to/from English.

How long should I come for? | For those coming from the U.S or other country | No aplica para los que viven en Colombia

From DC, the flight to Bogota is approximately 5.5 hours if you grab the nonstop Avianca flight from Dulles. Other routes exist with Copa that stop in Panama are also good from places other than Dulles. From Bogota to Armenia is an hour or so, and from Panama City is maybe an hour and a half. If that is your route, these are what we would have in mind. But, importantly, that weekend is Juneteenth for those of us who have the day off. It is also not peak tourist season in Colombia, so things should be very accessible. In the "Things to do" section, I have packed a lot in there all within the region where the wedding will be occurring. Yet, travel within the country is also easy and accessible if you want to go to places like Medellin, Cartagena, Cali, etc. Ultimately, our recommendation is that since it is a bit of a journey to get to Colombia, be sure to make the most of it as its pretty cheap and easy to travel around down here. Let me know if you want to talk about specific details for your trip and we can provide recommendations!

How can I get cellular service? | No aplica para los que viven en Colombia

SIM cards are very easy to find and buy and should be located even in the respective airport you arrive at. Honestly, you will not need much data and 5GB is plenty and should be cheap. Check with your cellular provider before leaving as for Verizon users like me, the SIM is unlocked and can be swapped out internationally easily. But, shall you need assistance with this, let us know and we will be ready to help!
