We met last winter at Chleo Restaurant on Fair Street here in Kingston, NY. Tom loved her beautiful green eyes; Jasmin loved his villainous jawline. They discussed Charles Dickens’ Our Mutual Friend. Living in Connecticut at the time, Tom would drive a few hours to visit Jasmin. He listened to her music; she listened to his podcasts. She was finishing school to become a principal; he was completing his dissertation to become a professor. They watched her cousin play drums in Woodstock; they visited the cows of eastern Connecticut.
They fell in love and were happy. It was easy; it was peaceful; it was joyful. He proposed a year later in Newport, Rhode Island, and they began to follow the plan that was always there for them.
