We're so excited to welcome you to Baltimore! Here are our favorite things to do around the city.
-
Clavel is one of our favorite restaurants in the city - a family run mezcaleria and taqueria in the Remington neighborhood. We also recommend stopping into W.C. Harlan for a Pisco Sour before or after your meal, a lovely 1920s inspired speakeasy right across the street.
Fadensonnen is a lovely wine bar, beer garden & tavern - perfect for a sunny Saturday afternoon.
Miss Shirley’s cafe is one of our classic favorite brunch spots in the city. We recommend the funky monkey bread and the crab hash & fried green tomato eggs benedict :)
Some of our other favorite spots include:
-
Mount Vernon
Mount Vernon is one of Baltimore's oldest neighborhoods, at the heart of Mount Vernon is the original Washington Monument. It retains its original charm even as the modern age has evolved around it. Sprinkled among museums, theaters, libraries and performance venues are a number of eclectic boutiques and tried and true eateries. We recommend checking out The Walters Art Museum, having high tea at The Ivy Hotel, or doing some shopping along the Charles Street Promenade.
Hampden
Originally built around the Jones Falls mills to provide homes for the millworkers, this north Baltimore neighborhood began transforming in the 90s, when artists began to take root. Hampden’s main drag, 36th Street aka “The Avenue,” is a great place to grab a bite, share a beer, check out some hip boutiques and vintage shops and immerse yourself in the overall vibe of this eclectic neighborhood. We love stopping into The Hunting Ground or Balto for some lovely vintage shopping, checking out Atomic Books and Celebrated Summer Records, and having brunch at Golden West Cafe.
Fells Point
Nestled along the cobblestone streets and charming waterfront, Fell’s Point Main Street was once a bustling shipbuilding port, and has served as the home to jazz singer Billie Holiday and abolitionist Frederick Douglass. Its visage has remained largely unchanged since its founding—picture Belgian block streets, waterfront restaurants and cozy boutiques just a few blocks east of the Inner Harbor which boasts the very cool Baltimore Aquarium. Check out the The Horse You Came In On, the bar where Edgar Allen Poe had his last drink, eat some yummy seafood at Thames Street Oyster House, have a sweet treat at Pitango Bakery, or have a fabulous, fancy drink at the Sagamore Pendry Hotel. Stop into The Sound Garden record shop and Greedy Reads while you take a lovely waterfront stroll!
