Jason:

As the classy man that I am, I took Louisa out to an esteemed Waffle House for breakfast (her favorite breakfast place). It was a pretty sketchy part of Indy so I was scared beyond belief that someone would break into my truck to steal the ring. Luckily it wasn’t, and once we got to downtown Indianapolis we quickly stopped by the Indiana State Museum before walking around the park outside. One of the first times we ever spent time alone together was in Indianapolis at the White River State Park, so I proposed to Louisa as we were crossing the bridge over the White River with the Indy skyline in front of us, and the Indianapolis zoo (which we once accidentally broke into) behind us. Afterwards we walked through the convention center tunnels that connect the majority of Indianapolis buildings together, and as the excellent planner I am, it happened to be during a porta potty convention 😂. There honestly were some pretty spectacular porta potties, and we learned that there is such a thing as ‘luxury restroom trailers’!

Louisa was frantically calling all of her family members to tell them the news, with her little sister Rose being the first since they had a long standing promise that they would each tell before telling their parents they got engaged. We learned that her parents also happened to be in Indy buying a pan, and we all made plans to meet back in West Lafayette to spend the night together.

Once we were back at Purdue, we met up with Louisa’s family and got the best pizza that God has ever made from Pizza Uncommon. Honestly, if you ever have the chance, you need to get it! They only have locations in West Lafayette and Madison, Indiana, but it’s the best pizza you will ever have! Then we went bowling down at the PMU and I wish I could put videos on here because watching Louisa bowl a whole game for the first time was one of the funniest things I have ever watched. She made remarkable improvements throughout the night though, and never stooped low enough to use the bowling ramp or bumpers.

I feel so lucky to be marrying into such an amazing family with the Peterson's, and I feel like the happiest and luckiest man in the world to be with Louisa ❤️. It was the perfect day for the two of us!

Louisa:

A lot of people ask if I had suspected that Jason was going to propose when he did, and the answer is that I honestly didn't! Apparently he had asked my dad for permission over Christmas break, and gotten the ring one day when he was going to an "eye appointment" in his home town! So I was really surprised when we were walking across the bridge and I turned around to see him kneeling down with a ring box! I was so excited and happy, and I couldn't wait to tell our families! We had originally planned to watch a movie in the Indianapolis mall theater that night, but we ended up driving back to West Lafayette early to see my family! First we went to mass with Rose (she'd also heard about the engagement first, true to our pact) while we waited for my parents and Adam to drive down, and then we all went bowling and had pizza. It was the perfect engagement day!
