Jason was convinced that he was going to spend his life as a single guy with a dog, but after having several friends find their match through online dating, he thought I'd be worth a shot to give it a try. Alli, convinced she was destined for single life as a cat lady, decided to give Match.com a try as well.
After joining the two were almost immediately matched together. Alli thought that Jason was super cute and that his profile was intriguing, so she asked him how his weekend was going. They continued to talk and exchanged numbers and agreed to meet in person on a lunch date.
Because of his stubbornness, Jason had Alli meet in Lenexa at Grand Street Cafe, right across from where he lives, because he thought it would end up being a waste of time so he didn't want to drive all over town... boy was he wrong!
He was totally blown away by how much in common he had with Alli and that their personalities meshed so perfectly together. The two became exclusive almost immediately and in April became official.
This past summer, the couple traveled many places together including Las Vegas, The Ozarks and Fort Worth and Dallas, Texas and were able to spend a lot of quality time together and getting to know each other on a deeper level. It was during this time that Jason knew Alli was "the one". He had many talks with friends and family about proposing and they all agreed that Alli was the best match they could ever imagine for him. So he didn't want to wait (I mean, he's not getting any younger here) ;)
Jason was praying for a sign that it was the right time to propose to Alli after knowing her for 8 months, when he attended his friend's Josh and Kim's wedding in October, he caught the garter during the reception.
Upon returning from Texas from the wedding, he immediately went to look at engagement rings. Knowing somewhat Alli's style of ring, he chose what ended up being the perfect ring and things started falling into place perfectly.
He texted Alli's parents Scott and Jodi one Saturday evening while hanging out with Alli asking if he could meet with them on Sunday to discuss his and Alli's future. Scott and Jodi ended up being out of cell coverage that entire evening and didn't text Jason back until after 11pm that night ... meanwhile Jason was sweating bullets that he had just sent that risky of a text and anxiously awaited a response.
The next morning, he went to Scott and Jodi's home and Scott had his new shotgun that he had just won at a contest the night prior laying out on the kitchen table when he asked Jason to have a seat. Both Scott and Jodi agreed that it was the right time to propose and that they couldn't be happier for Alli and Jason and were so excited to have him become an official member of their family.
Jason arranged a photography session for "6 month anniversary pictures" on the Plaza in Kansas City and told Alli they'd get a few pictures before dinner. A co-worker of Alli's kept telling her that day "you're going to get engaged, he's going to propose to you tonight if you're getting pictures taken." But Alli, being so blonde, didn't think anything of it and thought "no, he's just really romantic".
Jason proposed at the JC Nichols Fountain on the Country Club Plaza on October 17, 2017 and Alli said YES! :)
Afterwards, in a haze, they had their 6-month anniversary dinner at McCormick and Schmick's where they barely ate any dinner and then met-up with Scott and Jodi to show them the ring.
