Both individually called to make disciples who make disciples, we found ourselves in a program headed overseas to the same continent and country. Little did we know what the Lord had in store for both of us. As time went on our affections grew for one another in only a way explainable by the hand of the Lord.
From traveling the U.S to hiking the Himalayas I couldn't get this girl off of my mind. It seemed no matter where I went someone was talking about Izzy or she was in the background. As I watched her grow in spiritual maturity and godliness my affection also grew for her until one day I knew she was the one. Her humility, graciousness and angelic voice, are just a few descriptions of this beautiful, spunky, petite young woman with a fire in her eyes and a hunger for the Gospel. As I grew to know her more and I could see why the Lord was drawing me to her. She seems to complement all of my weaknesses and provide a much needed perspective on life, opening my eyes to all the beauty this world has to enjoy. She points me to the Gospel and displays a Christ like attitude towards me granting more grace than I deserve. I am blessed and humbled to soon call Mrs. Isabel Terry my Wife.

Initially, we didn't like each other! He thought I was stuck up and judgmental, and I thought he was prideful and arrogant. To be fair, we both were. However, our feelings towards each other began to change when we both spent a semester in South Asia through the same program we were in. He had liked me, but I was oblivious. I just viewed him as a good friend.
Once we were back in the States, he asked me to be his date for our friend's wedding. I agreed, thinking it would be a fun time being with all of our friends. When we got to the wedding, he didn't talk to me at all! I felt like he was avoiding me. It was definitely a flopped date.
On the car ride back to Kansas City, my friend Hannah and I were talking about why Jasper was acting so weird around me. She asked me, "do you think he could like you?" I responded no.
She knew full well he did, but she didn't tell me. Sure enough, Jasper reached out to me a few days later and confessed his feelings. I was unsure about everything, and told him that I didn't want to begin dating until he moved back to Kansas City for school.
Over the summer, we didn't talk much. Each week, he asked how he could pray for me. Over the summer, the Lord grew my affections for him and I was excited for him to move back, but was also extremely nervous.
When he came back to KC, we went on a coffee date and talked until the shop closed. A few weeks later, he took me out on another date and asked if he could pursue me. After talking with my parents, we began dating September 11, 2019. One year later, we got engaged!
It has been an absolute gift from God to walk alongside and learn from Jasper. He has been a picture of Christ to me, showing me steadfast, unconditional, and sacrificial love. He pursues me even when I am unlovable. He loves me despite my flaws and failures to love him. He pushes me to break out of my comfort zone and try new things. I'm excited to spend the rest of my life learning from and growing with this man!
