We met our freshman year at Boise State University. Our mutual friends (and now groomsmen: John, Evan and Mark), lived next to Joan. Their dorm was Javi's second (sometimes primary) home. For over two years we were great friends who frequented both Sigma Chi tailgates and Bronco Catholic together.

In the fall of 2019, through many games cheering on the Broncos, we realized wait, there might be something more to this friendship. But alas, Javi was heading to study abroad the next semester so we figured we'd wait and see how things were when he got back.

Well... one benefit of COVID-19, Javi got sent home from study abroad early. Come March 2020, a month that will live in infamy, we were official!

The next four years were spent adventuring with our pop-up camper through Idaho...

Of course supporting our favorite team... we are now season ticket holders and continue to go to as many games as possible!

And enjoying time spent with our incredible friends and family! We are so blessed with the BEST community of people in Boise that we couldn't be more grateful for.

Then, on August 9, 2024 at Joan's family vacation in Sandpoint, Idaho, Javi took her (and her sisters of course) on a morning walk that ended with an engagement!

And if there wasn't already enough tears and excitement, right after the proposal, the Vargas family jumped out to surprise Joan!

The rest of the weekend consisted of boating, celebrating, many many smiles, and the greatest feeling of gratitude for our incredible families.

Now, we are getting ready to enter into our next most exciting adventure... MARRIAGE! And we couldn't be more thrilled to get to celebrate with each and every one of you. See you September 20th!
