Jaymee & Leslie

June 15, 2024 • Navasota, TX

Les and I met in November of 2020 during the peak of Covid. I was quarantined with one of my best friends, Mallory, over Thanksgiving break in Trinity. Les was kind enough to bring us a traditional Thanksgiving meal. We sat and talked through a glass door for what seemed to be hours. Once I was no longer sick, he took me on a real first date.

On December 31th, 2020, Les asked me to be his girlfriend. Even though I was still in college in Shreveport and he was living in Trinity, we found a way to make our long distance relationship work. Any time we could, he was either coming to Shreveport for the weekend or I was going to Trinity. He supported me all the way through college and was my biggest fan at every softball game he could be at.

After graduating college in May of 2022, we signed a 12 month lease on a perfect starter home in Magnolia. It was me, him and our precious fur baby, Cinch. We enjoyed all of our time as a family of 3 and soon we became parents to another adorable fur baby, Weston. During the first year of living together, we went through the stages of whose turn it was to do the dishes, vacuum the floor, cook dinner and what size TV was acceptable in a home.

After long distance for a year and a half and living together for another year, I guess Les finally decided he was okay with doing life with me forever. On April 7th, 2023 Les asked me to marry him in the most perfect way. We were on a trip in Fredericksburg touring the most beautiful vineyard when he got on one knee in the middle of the vines and proposed to me. Not only was he able to keep that a secret but a whole other surprise was waiting for us back at the main tasting room. When we were dropped back off I was surprised with all of our closest friends there to celebrate with us. He got every detail right from start to finish!

On April 20th, 2023, Les and I closed on our first home together. I told Les from the beginning that I would not buy a house with him until there was a ring on my finger. He cut it real close haha. We have enjoyed this new phase of life, being engaged and being homeowners and we really wouldn't know what to do without one another.

Through all of the stages of our relationship, Les has never failed to make me feel special, cheer me up when I am sad, let me pick the paint color, let me cut off the amount of deer mounts in our home and most importantly, he has never failed at making me feel loved. We are still working on letting me pick the tv channel, but small steps.

Favorite Memories

- Our first year anniversary to Steamboat Springs, CO. We flipped a snowmobile in the mountains, rode horses in the snow, enjoyed natural hot spring pools, and bought a bunch of games and stayed up late playing board games together.

- Our monthly date nights that we devote to each other. We are very busy people, but always make sure to step away from all the craziness of life and be present with each other.

- The time we stayed up late watching movies and built an entire fort out of pillow and blankets in our living room.

- The thunderstorm watch parties.

- All of the scrabble game nights where Les tries to sneak his phone and look up words.

- All of the afternoon walks in the neighborhood with Cinch and Weston.

-All of Jaymee's screams as we zip lined through the woods of Oklahoma.

-Listening to live music as we walked the streets of Nashville.

-The many Astros games we have attended and the many more to come.

-Being able to take Jaymee hunting and seeing how excited she was to harvest her first buck.

-Learning how to fly fish together in Beavers Bend State Park. p.s. Jaymee caught more fish...
