Luis flies to Colorado to reconnect with Jazmin for the first time over a year after meeting her at a mutual acquaintance’s birthday party. Their first official date is a 3 hour road trip to Salida, CO. Upon returning to Denver, Jazmin “has to” pick up Pretzel (her dog) from her parent’s house, so Luis meets Mike and Elida and gets introduced as a “friend”. Luis heads back to CA the day after, and Jazmin gets a phone call from Grandma Marilyn asking about her new “boyfriend”. Keep up, things move fast here!

Jazmin flies out to visit Luis in California! It’s their favorite holiday weekend, Halloween weekend. Upon picking up Jazmin from the airport, Luis “has to” pick something up from his parents, Jose Luis aka Luis aka Guicho and Angelina’s, house. He too, introduces Jazmin as a “friend”. A weekend full of activities, from dancing, to visiting the Getty, to Luis admitting to Jazmin that he loves her. Crazy work. Jazmin heads back to Denver after a long weekend, now officially having a boyfriend (who loves her, as aforementioned. She loves him back, don’t worry).

Jazmin visits Luis in LA again, really doing their best to make long distance work. They go to Universal Studios and have a wonderful date to end the night. They talk about long distance being unsustainable. Not for their love of each other, but financially. Early career salaries, am I right?

Remember how we said to keep up because things move fast? Well, Luis flies to Denver to help Jazmin pack her things, because they’re moving in together! Anaheim, CA here we come!

SoCal was filled with beach time, LOTS of beach time.

SoCal was also filled with tons of family time, including Jazmin joining Luis’ family for their semi-frequent camping trip! Family - this is a key pillar of their relationship. Important to both of them, they become a constant in each others’ families.

Jazmin and Luis go on their first international trip! They go to Greece to celebrate the union of Jazmin’s brother, Jordan, and his wonderful wife, Sammy.

Luis surprises Jazmin for their first anniversary with a trip to SoCal’s wine country - Temecula. A trip filled with horseback riding and a healthy amount of wine, they fall in love with the area. Little did they know, this is where they would choose to get married.

Luis surprises Jazmin for her birthday by getting her family to come visit in CA! The families meet for the first time. They drink tequila and dance the night away at the Ceballos household.

2nd international trip in the books! Luis takes Jazmin to visit his grandpa and extended family (Jose Luis’s dad, Angelina’s parents were stateside at the time) in Guatemala.

Fun Fact: Jazmin always wanted to go to Guatemala, initially wanting her thesis research to be based there. She always had an affinity for the country, and now, she can’t get away from it!

Jazmin and Luis move back to Colorado in the fall and host their first Halloween party! They find out Luis looks pretty darn good in orange wigs.

Time in Colorado is spent going to dance class (Jaz), playing tons of soccer (Luis), and hanging out with family (shout out Leva, Sammy and Jordan’s spicy child). Also they go to breweries from time to time, because when in Rome…

Jazmin and Luis go back to CA for a family friend’s wedding. The day after, they do what they always do while in CA - go to the beach! On this particular day, it was a new moon, and Luis brought some supplies to vision board while at the beach. Luis, to Jazmin’s surprise, was done pretty quickly. He walked around with his painting, taking pictures of it with Jazmin in the background. He sets it down, face down, and hangs out. He asks Jazmin to pass him his painting, which she doesn’t even look at because she is IN THE ZONE with her vision board. Luis asks her to flip his board around, where she finally reads the single phrase that asks the crucial question, “Marry me?”. She says yes!

Jazmin surprises Luis for his birthday with a trip to Taos, NM. On their way back to Denver, they make a stop to have a birthday brunch where it all started, Salida, CO! Chair looks the same, Jazmin is even more gorgeous, and Luis looks wiser (don’t let looks fool you).
