Is it safe to attend during the COVID-19 pandemic?
We are hosting the ceremony and reception outdoors and we ask that all of our invited guests either be fully vaccinated with a booster dose 2 weeks before, or test and receive negative results for the virus within 48 hours of the wedding day prior to arrival. We will also ask the wait staff at the reception to wear masks, per city health ordinances. We hope that this makes our guests feel secure enough to attend, however we understand if you are not comfortable attending. Ultimately the decision is up to you! For more information regarding the coronavirus in San Diego and Coronado, please visit these websites:
Kindly consider making a reservation for a hotel room or Airbnb as early as you can, and lock in the great rates and availability now. Remember this is a busy wedding season and prices will increase and become quite steep the closer it gets to summer.
Head to the top of this page and explore the "Travel" tab where you can find more information regarding our suggested Coronado inn with blocked off discounted rooms under Walter/Pinchbeck wedding.
How do most people get around the city?
Most San Diegans primarily travel throughout the city using a car. The public transportation is minimal, and is not very convenient or quick, so we suggest either using a Lyft or Uber ride-share option, or renting a car during your stay. The bridge is the main way on/off the island to downtown San Diego by car, and there is a ferry that provides transport to and from Coronado Island to the San Diego mainland as well. If you anticipate needing transportation assistance, please reach out to the bride or groom: Jeanine (619) 248-9041, Alex (440) 381-0440.
Where will the vow ceremony be held, and how do we get there?
We will be saying our vows in the sand close to the water at Coronado Shores (South Beach). The wedding ceremony on the beach is very close to the Hotel Del Coronado, and will take place on the beach closer to Avenida Del Sol. Free street parking is available on most streets in Coronado, including along Silver Strand Blvd (State Route 75), but there are also several public parking lots, such as at the end of Avenida De Las Arenas or Avenida Lunar. Parking is in high demand during the summer, so plan to give yourself extra time to park and walk to the ceremony site on the beach at the end of Avenida Del Sol. Seating will be open to guests starting at 3:30.
You can either take an Uber or Lyft similar to a taxi ride, or park in the public parking lot on Avenida Lunar, Coronado. The ceremony will have chairs for guests. Please give yourself enough time to find the location and relax in your seat early at 3:45pm. Wheelchair accessible, please reserve ahead of time with the lifeguard if you need a sand wheelchair.
Where is the reception and how do we get there?
Our reception from 6pm-9pm is located on the outside private patio at the Italian restaurant Il Fornaio at 1333 1st Street, Coronado, CA, 92118. This is about a ten minute drive north from the South Beach parking lot to the northern coast of the island. The restaurant is right next to the ferry landing, located in the ferry landing parking lot.
FERRY LANDING PARKING INFORMATION:
At the ferry landing lot there is a 2 hour free parking grace period for all visiting guests. Il Fornaio provides another free hour for banquet guests, totaling 3 hours of free parking. All you need to do is type in an access code to the parking machine. Press any button to wake up the machine. Enter the vehicle's License Plate Number. Choose the “Banquet” option. The machine will then prompt for a code, 5964. A pass valid for 3 hours then prints out and the guest should place the ticket on their vehicle’s dash.
There is a fee for parking over 3 hours. If you want to avoid any charge, you can find free parking on the street on 1st St, A Ave, or B Ave.
How long is the reception and will there be dancing?
The reception is three hours long from 6-9pm. Since it is an outdoor patio space at a restaurant, there is no official group dancing. There will be plenty of space to mingle, and there will be traditional dances such as the bride and groom's first dance, as well as a dance between mother & son/groom and father & daughter/bride. We will continue the party for the young at heart at another location afterwards!
