Our love story began with a simple swipe on Hinge in August 2022. Little did we know that this small action would set in motion a series of events leading to a lifetime of happiness. After matching, we exchanged messages for a couple of days, but as often happens in the world of online dating, the conversation faded. Weeks passed, and life went on. But fate had other plans. One day, while scrolling through old messages, Jeanna paused at Erik's profile. Something about him caught her attention, and she thought, "Why did I stop messaging him?" Taking a chance, she sent a message:
"Hey Erik, sorry been a busy couple of weeks. Here's my number if you want to text..."
It was a simple message, but one that would change both our lives forever.
Texting led to planning our first date, though it took a couple of attempts (maybe a cancellation or two on Jeanna's part) before we finally met in person. Late September found us at Proletariat, a small beer bar nestled in the East Village of Manhattan.
From the moment we started talking, we felt an instant connection. The conversation flowed effortlessly, filled with laughter and those magical moments of "Me too!" that signal the start of something special. As the night went on, we both realized that this was more than just a good first date - it was the beginning of our love story.
Erik, captivated by Jeanna's warmth and the joy she brought to his life, knew he wanted to propose. He initially planned a romantic gesture during a trip to Charleston in June, even bringing the ring with him from NYC. However, the sweltering Southern heat had other ideas, forcing him to adjust his plans.
In a twist of fate that perfectly captured our relationship, Erik decided to propose after a night of mini golf in Williamsburg, at a course near our apartment that we had both been eager to try for over a year. However, as with many best-laid plans, there was a slight hiccup. The wooden planks on the pier had spaces between them, making Erik nervous about the ring's safety. Undeterred, Erik waited until we returned to our apartment before heading out to dinner. It was there, in the comfort of our home, that he asked the big question.
We can't wait for you to join us as we tie the knot and begin our forever together!
