Pipe Dream to Promised

August 8th, 2016 - San Francisco, California. Jeanne was beginning her 2nd year as an art teacher at KIPP San Francisco Bay Academy, a public-charter school in San Francisco. Cameron had recently moved from St. Louis, Missouri to begin his career as a school psychologist. He introduced himself to the staff on a Friday afternoon, which was soon followed by his first meeting with the Sunshine Committee (staff happy hour at neighborhood bars).

Jeanne had met other new staff members earlier in the week and Cameron was one of the last team members to be introduced to everyone. He was very excited to meet his new colleagues and particularly excited at how many of them were females. Jeanne sat at the same table as Cameron and introduced herself. Their interactions left her thinking that he was gay, which is not an uncommon thought due to his theatrics and overly enthusiastic approach to life.

Ms. Nguyen’s reputation on campus was quite the opposite, her transition lines were the straightest and the quietest in all the halls. In the building she meant business. Mr. Braun repeatedly got reprimanded for high fiving students and disrupting Ms. Nguyens classes. This intimidated Mr. Braun and he kept his distance for the rest of the year. Additionally, Ms. Nguyen had a boyfriend, so Mr. Braun looked elsewhere for companionship. His yoga teacher recommended finding a Sagittarius, highly compatible with Leos.

During the 2017-2018 school year, Mr. Braun got really into hiking around the Bay Area and dove into wildlife identification. He was still having trouble finding someone he fully enjoyed spending time with so he retreated into nature. Ms. Nguyen and other staff members were invited on these hikes and little sparks between the two fires signs started to emerge.

Mr. Braun told Mr. Gus Graves (the officiant) that Ms. Nguyen was his Pipe Dream: A beautiful, intelligent, and magnetic women he would never have a chance with. Mr. Graves still encouraged him to keep his eyes on the prize, because who knows what will happen.

The following months were filled with Sunday Hikes, board game nights, indulging in the SF food scene, and being the last members at Sunshine Committee meetings.

At the end of the school year it was obvious they were meant for each other, so Jeanne dumped the other guy. Cameron seized the opportunity and they made their relationship official on October 10th, 2018.

Everything was going great, so they moved in together along with Gus and their friend Meyer in 2020. Kevin, Camerons cat, joined them to complete their great, big, happy family on Groovy Grove Street.

In 2022 Jeanne, Cameron, and Kevin said goodbye to Grove and moved into their own place across from Golden Gate Park.

In May of 2022, Cameron coordinated a Jeannes 10th Year of Teaching surprise party at their apartment. Before the party, Jeanne and Cameron walked around Golden Gate Park. When they reached the banks of Metson Lake, they came across a path of rose petals (from the school garden) and Cameron asked Jeanne to marry him. She agreed and they returned to the apartment for Jeannes 2nd surprise. Close friends shouted in surprise and were happy to celebrate Jeannes teaching career. Unbeknownst to them, Cameron grabbed Jeannes hand and showed everyone the ring and shouted, Surprise! right back at them. The merriment went on throughout the night and every day there after.

After 5 years of adventures hiking over mountains, sleeping under the stars, flying across oceans, and dancing countless nights away - Cameron and Jeanne are excited to celebrate their 6th year together by getting married on their anniversary!

They are beyond ecstatic to celebrate and boogie the night way with all of their loved ones!
