The Wichita Mountains were not only the location of Rachel and Jeffrey's engagement, but the refuge itself is a natural beauty with wild buffalo, elk, and longhorn cattle. There are many hiking trails and even a historic Holy City. This is one of Oklahoma's best kept secrets.
Rachel and Jeffrey's wedding will also be happening in prime wildflower season! It is definitely worth the trip to see the endless fields of flowers in the refuge.
The Medicine Park Aquarium and Natural Sciences Center is a great way to experience the wildlife of southwest Oklahoma up close. The location also serves great views over Mount Scott and Medicine Park.
The drive to the top of Mount Scott will provide you with the best possible view of Southwest Oklahoma, the wildlife refuge, and Medicine Park. The drive from base to summit is 2.8 miles and fairly steep, but with stunning views the whole way. This experience is also only a short 10 minute drive from Jeffrey and Rachel's wedding venue.
This quaint little town east of the Wichita Mountains has been the setting of Jeffrey and Rachel's relationship for 3 years now. There are little shops, places to eat (like the Old Plantation Restaurant), places to have a brew (like the Park Tavern or Nice Ice Baby), and plenty of places to explore. There are also plenty of places to stay. Whether you're looking for a cabin in the woods, some small town charm, or some adventure, Medicine Park has a little something for everyone.
