The lovely couple met during the Summer of 2019. Jemima saw Daniel in a restaurant dining with his family. She asked a mutual friend about him, and a friendship soon began to blossom.

After a few weeks of chatting on social media, Daniel asked Jemima if he could give her a call. He contacted her, and they went to Woodmont Grill in Bethesda, MD for their first date at the end of August.

A little more than six months later, the pandemic would cause the world to pause most, if not all, social interactions. This meant that Jemima and Daniel would have to rely on telephone conversations and a great deal of texting to stay connected.

As the months of 2020 went on, Jemima and Daniel still wanted to see each other and eventually felt safe enough to meet each other for "dates" in the parking lot of Chick Fil A, Rita's Italian Ice, or Coldstone Creamery. They would talk in their cars, while keeping a safe distance. While the world was learning to adjust to its new normal, Jemima and Daniel were learning more about each other.

Over time, their friendship developed into something special. They enjoyed spending time with each other, celebrating happy moments, and supporting each other in the difficult ones. Time would lead them to a hot September day in Las Vegas.

They were preparing to head back to Baltimore after celebrating Daniel's 35th birthday. Hours before they were scheduled to board the plane, Daniel said that his stomach was upset. He went to the lobby of their hotel to get a ginger ale. Close to an hour went by, and Jemima began to get a bit concerned. He eventually returned without the ginger ale but he did have the blessing of Jemima's father, after calling him to ask for his daughter's hand in marriage.

Daniel walked out to the balcony of the hotel room. Still a bit confused because there was no ginger ale to cure Daniel's stomach ache, Jemima walked out to the balcony when she heard him calling her.

To Jemima's surprise, Daniel was on his knee with a ring. He asked Jemima the question that would initiate their journey together forever. He asked, "Will you marry me?" Completely stunned, Jemima happily said, "Yes."

They called their families to share the excitement and then prepared to board their flight back to Baltimore as a newly engaged couple.
