When are we going?
Most of the group are flying out October 10th and returning October 17th.
Sean and I will be leaving October 8th and returning October 20th.
Is there a time difference between the US & Ireland?
Yep. Depending on where you live, Ireland is 5-6 hours ahead of the US. This is a Captain Obvious question, but we mention it only as a heads-up when booking your flight. (You "lose" time going over and "gain" it coming back).
What is October weather like in Ireland
Much like the weather year-round in Ireland, we are told to expect the unexpected in October- Some rainy days, but also lots of rainbows, sunshine, sometimes cool & windy, and the spectacular colors of the fall.
***Think 'Sprummterall' and pack for the inevitable fickle weather.
How do we get there?
Fly into Dublin- It is the most convenient & affordable airport AND we are kicking off the week in Dublin City.
***All major Airlines fly into Dublin, but if you want a direct flight, we found Aer Lingus has direct flights from Orlando to Dublin.
Flights from the USA land at T2 (including Aer Lingus, Delta, United, US Airways, American Airlines).
We've Landed...What now?
As mentioned above, we are going to begin our Ireland adventure in DUBLIN CITY. The Airport is 9 miles North of the City and NO rail services operate to or from Dublin Airport, but there are several transport options for those travelling from the Airport to Dublin City.
Taxi: Taxis are available outside both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2.
Aircoach : Aircoach is the only 24 hour coach service operating between Dublin Airport and Dublin city centre.
The main Aircoach route (700) to the city centre departs every 15 minutes between 3.15am and 11.55pm. Outside of these times, its every 30 minutes.
Airlink: The Airlink is a public coach service from Dublin Airport to multiple locations throughout Dublin city centre.
Fares are cheaper than both Aircoach and taxis, but its not as comfortable as on an Aircoach and not as convenient as a taxi.
Airlink services accept the ultra-convenient, pre-charged LEAP travel cards***
**Without a LEAP Card, a single journey costs €7 or €11 return. Online discounts are available if booked in advance.
Will the ceremony & reception be held indoors or outdoors?
Our Handfasting Ceremony will be outdoors, on the Cliffs of Moher.
The Reception will be indoors at Gus Oconnor's Pub.
What do I need to know about renting a car in Ireland
Dublin is like other cities and therefore you really need NOT rent a car at the Airport. ***It is more economical to rent a car in Dublin City than at the airport.
They drive on the opposite side of the road in Ireland.
Unless you are very confident driving manual , you will want make sure you have rented an AUTOMATIC transmission.
**One last tip – if you have one of the awesome travel credit cards (shoutout Chase Reserve) you are likely used to insurance being covered through the card. In Ireland, you have to obtain a signed letter (printed out) from the credit card company confirming that you are covered for a rental car in Ireland. The credit card company should be used to this request and know what you are asking for, but just make sure you get that ahead of time.
We have shared The #LetsScho Ireland Itinerary and we welcome anyone who wants to join us, but we want you all to make the most of your time in Ireland doing what YOU want to do!
Do you know if the hotel is pager friendly?
