Hey there, we're Jarrell and Jen, and we're so glad you're here! Before you RSVP "heck yes!" to our wedding, we thought we'd share a little bit about how we ended up together.
Picture this: Jarrell, a sailor from Philly with more stamps in his passport than we have matching socks (26 countries!), swipes right on Jen, a small-town girl from Upstate NY who traded cow pastures for palm trees and a newfound love of the Padres (even though she'd never watched a major league baseball game before).
We spent two weeks chatting on Tinder before finally meeting up. Why the delay, you ask? Well, Jen has this uncanny ability to get sick or injured at the worst possible times. But hey, at least it gave us plenty of time to bond over our shared love of bad jokes and sarcasm.
Our second date was on Jarrell's birthday. We went to his favorite restaurant for a club sandwich (yes, we're that exciting). Everything was going great until Jen realized she'd left her purse behind. Poor Jarrell had to drive all the way back to get it. And as if that wasn't enough, the very next day, Jen's ceiling caved in! Let's just say it was an eventful week.
Since then, we've been making up for lost time, exploring as many new places as possible. We've danced in the streets of Nashville, geeked out over books in Portland, toured haunted streets of Charleston, navigated the subway maze of NYC, and two-stepped our way through Austin (though Jarrell still prefers a good Philly cheesesteak). We've even turned a few weddings into mini-vacations (who doesn't love a good open bar and dance floor?).
Speaking of weddings, Jarrell decided to pop the question in the rose garden at Balboa Park – Jen's happy place (and apparently, a great place to recover from a hangover). See, Jen was feeling a little rough after a work party, but Jarrell cleverly lured her out with the promise of a fancy dinner to celebrate his promotion. Spoiler alert: She said yes, and we celebrated with our friends and a whole lot of champagne.
These days, you can find us living the dream in downtown San Diego. We love traveling, cooking (and eating!), exploring our amazing city, and hanging out with friends. You'll often find Jen dragging Jarrell to Padres games, where he'll always be cheering for the Phillies - some habits die hard!.
So, that's our story – a Philly boy, an Upstate NY girl, a club sandwich, a collapsing ceiling, a rose garden proposal, and a whole lot of baseball (and travel!). We can't wait to celebrate with you all on the shores of Owasco Lake.
