From Jenn's Perspective-John Rowa has known Josh for decades, but it took two years of my friendship with John before he finally mentioned him to me. Josh had been visiting Utah for years, often at The Well Church where I attend—just missing each other by moments.John asked me if I was single, and I confidently said, “SUPER single.” Shortly after, on November 19, 2024 at 6:49 PM, John texted Josh: “I just sold you told a beautiful woman that loves the Lord and has a good job here... and she goes to The Well. She added you on IG. Do your thing." The setup had officially begun. Thanks to a work trip for Grandview Communities to SoCal (shoutout to Matt Villalobos for making that happen!), I finally got to meet Josh in person after a long day of work and travel. I took an Uber to his church in Riverside, where he was attending a volunteer appreciation night. I told my driver the whole story, and when we pulled in, he looked out and said, “Is that him?” Sure enough—there he was: tall, handsome, and smiling. I jumped out of the car and into his arms, and immediately felt chills. I fit so perfectly there.We had dinner at Mission Inn in Riverside and wandered downtown. From that night on, we hit it off fast, with long phone calls, late-night conversations, and a sense that something really good had begun. A few months later, Josh visited Utah and that’s when he asked me to be his girlfriend. It wasn’t long before the talk of a move became serious. Okay, I had technically started planning it weeks before… but this time, we actually shared the intention and timeline.Then came Valentine’s Day. Josh surprised me with a trip and I surprised him by showing up at the airport dressed like a box of chocolates (yes, really). That night, he told me he loved me. And just like that, the move was officially in motion.In a whirlwind of God’s perfect timing, Josh moved to Utah on April 18th. He stayed with the Rowas for a few weeks while selling his SoCal home and buying a new house in Daybreak—all in the same week. It was wild, fast, and completely right. Then came the proposal. I had a strong feeling it was happening the next day (thanks to a few not-so-subtle hints). In a panicked and chaotic text to Pastor Erica, I asked if I could take a half day to “just get a few things done.” (it was not a few things... it was chaos.) She graciously said yes—thank you for saving my engagement photos, Pastor Erica!Josh picked me up and told me we were going to Chili’s… if you know, you know. Instead, he had planned the most beautiful, romantic picnic up on a mountain in Bountiful. We sat, we talked, and I was doing everything I could not to blurt out, “Is it happening yet?!” Finally, he stood up… and I immediately started crying. Like, full-on ugly crying. I don’t even know what he said, I just knew it was everything I had been waiting for. He paused, and through tears I said, “Yes.” Our story is one of grace and surrender to the Lord. Both of us had come to accept that singleness might be God’s plan for our lives, fully devoted to serving Him without expecting anything different. Yet, behind the scenes, He was quietly working in ways we hadn’t imagined. Yes, this all happened quickly—but it is God's suddenly in our lives.
