Our Wedding

Approach NYE of 2019, we were both probably fed up with the dating scene, had a few good runs with some dating apps. While visiting friends up in Bergen County, my phone detected my location and adjusted my matches on Bumble-which matches based on location. And there Ian popped up. I swiped right, which meant we could talk with each other, and the rest is history. Things happen for a reason, and I firmly believe Ian and I were brought together purposefully. If I had not been up north, we would have never matched. We both wanted to take things incredibly slow as we knew kids would be involved, and we did our best to keep our dating separate from our children-until March 2020 when the world shut down. We had to decide to either not see each other and see how long this pandemic was going to ride out, or hunker down together, kids and all-which is exactly what we did, less than 3 months into dating. Not exactly the path we were intending on, but the path we were put on! Fast forward four and a half years, 85 miles of distance between us, many thoughts of will they, wont they, along with countless conversations like, theres got to be light at the end of the tunnel, we just cant see it yet, we will finally close the distance gap and begin building a life together at the end of this summer. And finally tie the knot in June of 2025!

In the beginning....

On a weekend spent up north, we wanted to do something relaxing for the day, so we wound up paying an arm and a leg to spend at Sojo Spa club in Edgewater. Since we couldnt get a reservation until 4pm and they closed at 9:30pm, I was determined to stay through until they kicked us out to get our moneys worth. Having had no dinner in our stomachs, Ian suggested we try Hoboken for a late dinner. This should have had me questioning because on a Saturday night, Hoboken is not Ians scene...so I suggested Jersey City as we could probably grab something much quicker-especially knowing he had work the next morning. He said, lets try Hoboken first and see what there is. We parked by the water and started walking...past a bunch of restaurants...and I kept saying, its pushing 10pm, and we are still walking? He wanted to see this light fixture at the end...so we kept walking. I started taking pictures and video of these light fixtures, and then he started walking up the pier a bit and pointed out how it was a perfect spot to see the NYC skyline. He took my hand and pulled me to sit down (all the while I am clueless taking a video of the beautiful NYC skyline I thought we were there to check out). Then he told me that I had waited long enough, and that we deserved this, and he proposed. It was perfect, it was exactly his style, his way, and it was one of the best nights of my life!
