how it came to be

Jenna and Heath first met in December 2023 when Heath and his friend Caleb came to visit his sister Mallory at Grace College. They couldn't stay in the dorms, so they stayed in the living room of Jenna's apartment for the weekend. Apparently, when Jenna walked into the apartment after working late in the ER that night, Heath looked up from the game of Mario Kart they were all playing, and it was love at first sight. But nothing happened... until the friend's trip to Colorado in September 2024. Jenna and her friends Kate, Emma, and Mallory went to the Steiger cabin in Pagosa Springs, where Heath was there elk hunting with his dad. Over the week, Heath did less hunting and more tagging along with the girls. Jenna and Heath became friends through the thrifting trips, hikes, and jumping in a freezing cold waterfall together. But the 3-hour plane ride back to Indy, seated next to each other, yapping the entire time, sealed the deal. Jenna got a letter from Heath in the mail a few days later. They went to Eagle Creek Park for their first date, then began ‘officially dating’ that same day. 8 months later, Heath proposed to Jenna when they went back to Eagle Creek Park for a picnic. And here we are now :)

the Potawatomi Inn is a bit more expensive. 155/night + state park entree fee. but it is great place if wanting to make a weekend out of the trip. does have a pool!

the Wingate is our recommended option! it is a highly rated hotel, about 20 minutes from the venue. when booking, ask for the "mueller/steiger" wedding rate. $129/night plus tax. we have reserved a number of rooms with a choice of king or double queen beds. the rate applies for additional nights before and after the date of the wedding. must be booked by 10/1 to get this rate!!!!
