We met long before the romance officially begin, but they say, "timing is everything." In January of 2012, I decided to try something new and purchased a groupon (I love a good groupon!) for Crossfit Davis. Prior to attending, I may or may not have looked up some of the members on their facebook page to see if anyone dateable worked out there. I remember seeing a picture of Drew, and thinking "he's the only cute guy there." I started going to the classes, and would eventually have Drew as the coach of my 6am class. Anyone who knows me, knows how much I like my sleep, so we'll just say, he was very motivating for me to get out of bed and get to the gym.
After a few months of flirting, it became apparent Drew was following the strict rules (boo!), and nothing but a friendship came out of Crossfit Davis. I left Davis shortly after graduating vet school in 2012 and moved down to San Diego. The day I left, Drew was the last person I said bye to. It was a little sad to think nothing ever came of us.
Fast forward 2.5 years. One day, I received a message on facebook from Drew that simply said "You are the girl that got away." After my initial annoyance that no one can really "get away" if there was no effort to start with, I was quite intrigued. We messaged back and forth a few times, and then chatted on the phone for the first time (ever). Something had clicked. After a few weeks of chatting, we decided we would go on our first date. Drew had moved to Chico in the interim, and I was still in San Diego. We decided to meet in Davis, where it all began. He picked me up from the airport with flowers. We went on the quintessential Davis date: Burgers and Brew and Yolo Berry for dessert...and that was the official start to our romance.
After a little over a year of long distance, Drew moved to San Diego, and we melded our dog families together, and started building a life in University Heights. We acquired a certain one-eyed frenchie a few months later. Almost 3 years after our first date, Drew proposed at one of our favorite dog walking spots--Balboa Park , with a group of some of our favorite people hiding nearby.
We are very excited to share our big day with you, and hope you love visiting San Diego, as much as we do!
