It all started with one text! One of my high school friends texted me and said I should come up to visit someone he knew up at college. He said he’d be the perfect fit for me and that we’d have a fun weekend together. So, what do I do? I drive just over THREE HOURS for a blind date! Never meeting this guy in person, just texting back and forth and snapchatting every day. And here we are today, planning a wedding!I drove the three hours up to Mansfield to meet Trent in person for the very first time. He still lived in the dorms at the time, so I parked down the road at the baseball parking lots. There was a line of trees parked behind me and the first thing I said to myself was, "what if this man jumps out of the trees just to give me a heart attack"? But, he didn’t! He came walking down the street and met me at my car and we walked back together to his dorm building. There was where I met his two friends, Evan and Cross. They introduced themselves as each other, throwing me for a bigger loop than I already was in! Then we went on our first actual date! We went to a local pizza shop and talked about fishing and out favorite sport teams, where I found out he’s a New York Mets fan…….ewww. I’ll never live down that day, because I ate my pizza with a knife and fork because it was piping hot and I didn’t want to make a mess of myself on my outfit on out first date, ya know? The weekend was great and we both had a great time! So much fun that he texted me that following week and asked when I was coming back to hang out again? Minus working some weekends in between, I remember driving up to Mansfield every weekend from January to March of 2019.March 23rd, 2019 is a date that we will never forget. The day Trent took me to Hills Creek late at night to watch the stars and asked me to officially start dating!Until Trent graduated, I drove up pretty much every weekend, even one after working third shift, the weekend of Easter. I worked until 8am Easter morning and I told him I wasn’t coming because I’d be too tired, but I did anyway just for a surprise. I stopped at Walmart on my way and picked us up ham steaks, scalloped potatoes, and rolls to have our own makeshift Easter dinner.I was still in college until December 2019 including the summer, so we spent weekends together mainly. I graduated from x-ray school in December of 2019 and got a full-time job at Hershey Medical Center, a hospital I did clinicals at so I was very familiar with the staff and hospital itself.We all know happened in March 2020, (Covid). I still worked full time through it all, seeing everything you can imagine in the middle of a pandemic. Trent was still up at college and we didn’t see each other for weeks, due to not wanting to get each other sick. Trent went home after his first online semester of college and was home for a few weeks before we finally got to see each other again in May 2020. Then we spent the summer together before Trent went back to college, where we continued our weekends together.In 2021, still just spending weekends together through college, we went ice fishing and hiking a lot! Trent took me trout fishing for the first time, but I wasn’t dressed accordingly, so Trent had to give me a piggyback ride across the stream and back. This was the year Trent was graduating from Mansfield so he started interviewing for jobs around central Pennsylvania. We went fishing a lot to pass the time and before Trent said goodbye to Mansfield upon graduation in May 2021. The end of May 2021, Trent started his environmental scientist job at Skelly and Loy out of Harrisburg! My parents graciously let Trent move in for the time being while starting his first fulltime job. The end of June, Trent ended up falling at work and breaking his left kneecap, leaving him to work from home for 8 weeks. Going to the Outer Banks with a knee brace on wasn’t ideal, but Trent’s family and I made it work and still had a great time, even got Trent out in the ocean. Through fall, I worked second shift full-time during the week and Trent got back to work during the day so we didn’t get to see each other much except weekends again. The end of 2021, I had my first major surgery on my abdomen right before Christmas so Trent visited me in the hospital when he wasn’t working since I had to stay for three days. Came home just in time for Christmas and New Year’s.2022 came around and I went back to work after a few weeks off of work, and we put our names on a deposit list for our first puppy! Ruger finally came home at the end of March, and we can’t imagine our lives without him! Still living with my parents, Ruger became very fond of them quickly. He still loves to see them to this day. I still worked second shift and Trent worked days so Ruger was trained quickly, now he loves to swim and be outside playing fetch or hunting with Trent. We went to two of our friends’ weddings and after went on our first vacation just the two of us, down to Disney World and to visit Trent’s grandma. After coming home, we settled on our first house in October! Spent the rest of the year moving in and getting some projects done to make our house a home!2023 comes around, and we spent it in North Carolina for another wedding Trent was apart of, for his one college roommates. We came home and celebrated Ruger’s first birthday and continued with the house projects. Went to North Carolina again for a few days in April. Trent got a new boat so of course it was only right if we took out for a spin in May. Then, Brad, Trent's younger brother, graduated from high school so we spent some family time together and went to North Carolina again for family vacation in July.Trent FINALLY proposed in August in the middle of a sunflower patch (my favorite flower) and the wedding planning began!Our almost 4 years of dating and engagement were filled with sporting events, vacations, and family! We are very excited to share our love with each other and with you on our wedding day.
