We met at work. I (Jenna) did not want to date and he didn't get me to agree to until over 4 months after I started (he'd been actually crushing hard and asking to hang out one on one at least a month prior to me saying "okay fine"). At work, he supported me, both as a mentor and as a friend. I remember when I first started to feel something "romantic" for him - it was during basketball after work with our co-workers. We had a rocky start because he canceled our first date multiple times due to being sick, but we proceeded to date over the next several months, keeping it quiet (me having to chide him for googly eyes at work), because it was important to keep romance and work separate (and our coworker had issues with the idea of us dating). So a lot of people had no idea, and we couldn't do things like post on social media or go on dates without fear of people from work spotting us - and we had some close calls. I stopped biking to work, he started driving me; and he started living with me in my tiny studio basement apartment. We learned more about each other and grew closer than I ever could have imagined in those 9 months. Then we moved into our condo, and I started a new job, and we finally could go public! But we still kept our ship on the dl because did not know how to tell Howard, who we are both forever grateful to and who knew almost all along, probably. When we were celebrating our 1 year dating anniversary, the night before we headed off to New Orleans to celebrate further for the weekend, he popped the question. I cried and eventually said "yes." He said almost verbatim what I had written on social media moments before, publicizing our ship for the first time, without reading it - we felt the same way and expressed it the same way.
