Memorial Day 2017. I had just returned to NYC after 2 weeks away and was quickly disappointed realizing most of my friends were out of town for the holiday weekend. My mom suggested I check out Hinge to find a nice Jewish boy to take me out to dinner and to fill my empty schedule. I came across a cute boy who seemed pretty perfect, minus the weird spelling. “Erik with a K? That’s weird but sure”. We matched and proceeded to have the most standard and typical first conversation. We talked about our favorite places we’ve been and our favorite broadway shows but it ended with a phone number exchange and a date that Friday night.

Our first date was at a wine bar downtown. He even brought a box of Levain cookies. We stayed for hours talking and laughing and it went so well our second date was just two nights later. We realized how serendipitous our match was- he has grandparents in Boca?? We had even been at the same party together a few years prior unknowingly and had a handful of mutual friends (thanks Jewish geography). I knew pretty quickly that Erik was *The One*. Fast forward to seeing each other several times a week and within a month we were *official*.

Two years later, we’ve continued to love life with each other. Going through the ups (graduations and new jobs), the downs (we both lost a grandparent in a 5 day span) and the awkwards (I accidentally told Erik I loved him for the first time on the subway!). Traveling to far, distant lands like Indiana, Hilton Head and Disney World. Commuting across NYC’s neighborhoods to each other’s apartments (5 apartments total in 1 year!), before moving in together last summer.

Finally, after weeks of my incessant badgering, Erik proposed in Central Park with our families waiting just a few blocks away. We had an amazing weekend jam-packed with celebration and way too much food. We can’t wait for our wedding day and we are so excited to spend the rest of our lives together.
