Our Wedding

We’ve been together for a long time—long enough that the question “When is it finally going to happen?” has followed us for years. And now we’re here, so excited to get married.Our paths first crossed through mutual friends. Jenna was friends with Josh’s younger sister, Brianna, and Josh was friends with Jenna’s older brother, Joel. Joel still jokes that he’s not surprised in we ended up together—especially considering how often Josh seemed to find excuses to hang out at the Veenstras before hockey.What’s always felt so special isn’t just how young we were—it’s how we’ve grown up together. Josh quickly became part of Jenna’s family. He fit right in with her brothers and their shared love of golf, and could always be found chatting sports stats with her dad over a beer. From the beginning, it felt like he was meant to be there. Getting to know Josh’s family felt just as natural for Jenna. Growing up without sisters or younger siblings, being welcomed into a family with two girls and a younger brother felt like gaining something she never knew she was missing. His sisters and mom became like family almost instantly, with countless memories shared—late night kitchen chats at hunting camp and unforgettable travels.Our relationship has been marked by so many meaningful milestones: high school prom, graduation, moving to Victoria, saying goodbye to childhood pets who felt like both of ours, bringing home our first dog Sako, and—five years later—buying a home together. These are the moments many people walk through on their own—but we’ve been able to experience them side by side.We’re also deeply grateful for the people who have walked alongside us. As we put together our guest list, we realized just how many of our friends feel more like family. We are so grateful for every single one of you! But above everything else, we’re grateful for the way God has been present in every step of our story. Jenna’s Oma reminds us often that she prays for us every day, and we truly believe those prayers have carried us through every season. A verse that holds deep meaning for us is:“In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.” – Proverbs 16:9Looking back, it’s clear that every step was guided. And as we look ahead to marriage and all that’s still to come, we continue to trust that God will lead the way—just as He always has.
