During my junior year of high school, I received a notification that Alex Burke added me on Snapchat (so romantic, I know). Out of the blue, Alex asked me to be his date for the upcoming senior dinner dance. While I knew of Alex (that he was super smart and always in the ag hallway), I had never talked to him or even been around him. So I was completely surprised when he asked me to be his date! Alex then suggested that we should go on a date to Texas Roadhouse to get to know each other before the dance. He really shot his shot! Throughout our first date, we never stopped talking. Our poor waitress had to come back to our table three times before we were ready to order because we never stopped talking! It was the best night ever, and I knew that Alex was so special. I even took a selfie of us on our first date because I knew he would be sticking around!

Three days after our first date, Alex asked me to be his girlfriend. While it seemed at the time that we were completely different people (he was the farmer and I was the cheerleader), our values and upbringings could not be more similar. We complemented each other so well and shortly became inseparable. Throughout the rest of the year, we spent every moment together: breakfast before school at Jake’s place, sneaking kisses in the hallway in between classes, long talks in his truck after school, basketball games, and lots of ice cream dates after at Dairy Queen. Flash forward a few months later, Alex’s mom and I moved him into his dorm at WKU, and we cried the whole way home. We spent the year doing long-distance and making several trips back and forth between home and Bowling Green. Shortly after, I moved to Bowling Green to start my freshman year at WKU. Alex and I were lucky enough to get to spend three years together in college where our relationship grew even deeper. On April 7th, 2023, Alex asked me to marry him. Once again, I was completely surprised but overwhelmed with joy to say YES to being Alex Burke’s wife.

As a little girl, I always dreamed of what my future husband would be like and made a checklist of the qualities he should possess. God answered all of my prayers and provided me with so much more when He handpicked Alex to be my husband. Getting to grow up with Alex and find my soulmate at such a young age has been the greatest joy of my life. Throughout so many different seasons, Alex has always been a constant. He is my best friend and greatest supporter. He is so selfless, hardworking, and leads me so well in every aspect of life. I love him with my whole heart and I’m the luckiest girl in the world to always know how much he loves me too.

When reflecting on our relationship, I still see so many parts of the two high schoolers who fell in love, but, most importantly, I see two people who have consistently chosen each other and who will continue to do so throughout the rest of our lives. I can’t wait to be your wife, AB!
