Hello Friends and Family!
Philip and I are so excited for our next chapter together and to be celebrating with all of you!
Our story began at the University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) in San Antonio, Texas in 2014. Philip was pursuing his undergraduate degree, while I was in graduate school earning my MBA. We were introduced through mutual friends and started a friendship through a love of golf (and a little partying). We would go out to the Valero Texas Open to watch the professionals make it look easy or play rounds together at San Antonio Country Club and other courses around San Antonio. After graduating from UIW, he attended Arizona State University's Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law in the fall of 2016. Before leaving for law school, Philip asked me for a Duke’s Pub Hat (IYKYK) that he could wear during law school. After each semester, he would come back to San Antonio and bug me enough until I gave him a new color hat for his upcoming semester.
While he was home for summer break in 2017, I was out with friends one evening and called him to come join for a few drinks and that evening we made plans to get together with family for a fun dinner. Two weeks later, we got together for a nice dinner at Il Sogno (we will always miss this place!) with our parents and the rest is history!
After the summer break was over, he went back to school and I made a promise to go visit him. That October, I flew out to Phoenix and this would continue every few months to see him until he came home for holidays or the summer. We had the best time on those trips, going to the Waste Management Phoenix Open (WMPO), the Gelato Festival, Barrister’s Ball (“Law Prom”) and more! Every trip was so much fun and we had the best meals, but it was never enough time together!
On one of the trips, he took me to J&G Steakhouse at the top of the Phoenician Resort in Scottsdale with beautiful views. After dinner we still had some wine left and went to sit out on the balcony where he told me he loved me for the first time.
After graduating from law school, he moved back to San Antonio where we could finally be together in the same city and grow our relationship stronger!
We still love taking trips and have since continued to make our annual trip to the WMPO with 2023 being our 5th year! Little did I know that the 2023 WMPO would be the best one yet!
On Wednesday, February 8, 2023, he told me that we were meeting friends for dinner at J&G, which I was excited about, but also thought no way he would propose with friends there so I gave up hope on that night being "the night." We walked into the resort and made our way to the downstairs bar and ordered a drink before dinner. After ordering, he was acting funny and looking all over for our friends and said maybe they are outside on the patio. He walked me outside and was looking around for them and didn’t see them, so we walked back inside. I didn’t know this at the time, but he was trying to remember which side to walk me out on the patio, so our friends above us could see the whole thing. After a few minutes, he walked us back outside to “look for our friends” and while I was looking around, he tapped me on the arm and was down on one knee asking me to marry him. I instantly cried the happiest tears of my life and I am so excited to marry him!
We cannot wait to share the next chapter of our life together with you!
