Before Mark and I ever met, our friends Gajra and Ram tried to set us up on a blind date. It was pretty bad timing, with Mark headed to Europe in a few days and me headed to Turkey as soon as he got back. Gajra had told me all about him and had even sent me a bunch of photos (that I later found out had saved to my iPhone!!), while Ram had told Mark that Gajra had a single friend that we should all go for drinks (typical boys!!) We both agreed and had scheduled a date, but ended up having to cancel due to our crazy schedules. A few months had gone by and on October 31, 2014 Sriracha and Spider-Man accidentally met at Gajra's Halloween party. I had recognized him from the photos (and had Gajra asking me every 10 minutes if I had talked to him yet to remind me) and finally approached him in the kitchen getting a drink. I pretended I had no idea who he was and introduced myself (which Mark still makes fun of me for) and asked how he fit in at the party. We ended up talking for hours. He walked me to get a cab and asked me for my phone number. The text the next morning from the "local neighbourhood Spider-Man" checking to make sure I was feeling okay must have sealed the deal.

How We Met

The weekend he proposed,&nbsp;Mark had told me that we were actually&nbsp;going to Fernie for his work ski trip the weekend of March 3, 2017. He had even gone through the effort of drafting&nbsp;up fake emails and pretended to coordinate rides and rooms with his colleagues, boy did he have me convinced! A few weeks before, he had sent me a link to a place called Island Lake Lodge, just outside of Fernie. They ran snowcat rides up to the lodge in the winter, including lunch and the option the cross country skiing.&nbsp;The days leading up to the trip Mark was such a good sport about making the work ski trip believable.&nbsp;

Friday morning&nbsp;we drove out to Fernie, rode the cat up to the lodge, and got ready for our cross-country ski around the lake. It was an absolute blizzard, so there was a ton of fresh powder and the trees and snowflakes looked absolutely magical. I was showing off a bit and bolted from the lodge down the path (which didn't work well because Mark had tried to coordinate with the lodge to have someone follow us with a camera!) About half way around the lake&nbsp;Mark said we should stop for a quick break and grab a photo. My initial reaction was, that is a very strange thing for MARK to say... that is something I would say, but even still I didn't look too far into it. All I remember was taking photos of the beautiful lake and turning around to see Mark grabbing a black box from his coat and getting down on one knee. Of course I said yes! We finished the rest of our ski while Mark explained that we were not actually on the work&nbsp;Ski Trip and that we were just spending a weekend away in the mountains. We enjoyed a delicious lunch and champagne toast at the lodge and then headed back down to the hotel, where the surprises continued. Mark had flowers, chocolate, champagne waiting, along with a manicure booked for Sunday, and a photobook (which he knows I love to make for all of my trips) of our best memories together. We spent the rest of the weekend having an amazing and memorable time skiing.&nbsp;

Kayle and Jen met in first year Engineering, at RDC, where&nbsp;they bonded over being total nerds and always being the first to get their homework done. One of Jen's fondest memories is their Thursday night sleepovers at Lister, after&nbsp;their wild nights out at Union Hall.

Scott and Mark met in grade 7 after learning they're both bad with girls, but good at video games. One of Mark's most fond memories of him and Scott was their spring break trip to Whistler where they spent the week snowboarding.&nbsp;

Dan and Mark first met in elementary school and became friends while playing roller hockey. Dan and Mark have most likely&nbsp;played over 1,000 games of NHL&nbsp;together. One of Mark's favorite memories of their friendship is drinking at the same elementary school field where they first became friends.

Erin and&nbsp;Jen met in grade 5, in Olds, when&nbsp;they were forced&nbsp;to spend&nbsp;their entire summer watching&nbsp;their brother's baseball games .&nbsp;They bonded over&nbsp;their love of Full House, popsicles, and the Grinch and have had the ability to travel together over the years.

Byron and Mark met in grade 11 math class, where Byron would have his afternoon naps. Byron moved to Calgary shortly after Mark and for their first three Calgary summers, Byron&nbsp;would patiently wait until after Mark was finished his CFA&nbsp;exam so they could hang out again.&nbsp;

Kathleen and&nbsp;Jen met in second year Engineering, at U of A, when we lived on the same floor in Lister and bonded over boys, school, and traveling. They lived together at ECV&nbsp;and the Akins Residence and both love&nbsp;Grey's Anatomy, tea, and brunch dates.

Ram and Mark went from enemies to friends over a&nbsp;grade 9 ski trip. They grew closer over the years, both studying finance in University. Afterwards, they both moved to Calgary where they shared in each other's misery&nbsp;while studying for the CFA&nbsp;and seeing the occasional comedy show.&nbsp;

Despite spending 4 years together at U&nbsp;of A, Gajra and Jen met in their first few weeks of work at Chevron.&nbsp;They grew close on their numerous work trips to Houston and having neighbouring offices. Gajra is responsible for setting Mark and Jen up at her famous Halloween Party of 2014.
