The bride and groom met in the Fall of 2011. Jennifer had just moved into the dorm of Mack Hall to start her freshman year at The Ohio State University. Alex Lapshin had also just moved into Mack Hall to start his sophomore year at OSU. Alex said hello to Jennifer on move-in day as he made rounds of hellos on his floor.

Then, late one fateful night, Alex had returned from a Friday night of follies with a box of chicken tenders and toast from Raising Cane's. It was all history from there - Jennifer was hungry, Alex volunteered his tender and, mid-handover, their eyes locked and they fell in love.

Just kidding! Alex did indeed share his chicken tender but they found out they liked each other on a cold night out and Alex offered Jennifer the warmth of his embrace. They quickly fell for each other and officially started dating on 10/26/2011.

Jennifer and Alex both have a love for traveling. In May 2019 they took a trip to Spain, Italy and Switzerland. While in Positano, Italy Alex made a reservation at a nice restaurant with a great view of the town. After dinner Alex asked if Jennifer needed to get up and stretch her legs. She said no. With his initial plan foiled, he had to come up with another reason to get her to stand up. Jennifer eventually agreed when Alex said there was something he wanted to show her. After they went over to the balcony, Alex gave Jen an awkward back rub, got down on one knee and asked Jennifer to marry him. She quickly said yes and they spent the rest of the trip celebrating their engagement!

Afterword by Alex: Ok, Jen could tell this moment was coming, mostly because of the dead giveaways. Could I have hidden the ring brochure in a better place than the trunk of my car? Sure but, in my defense, others had a hand in foiling my proposal plans. For instance, I coordinated with the restaurant to help with the proposal and, when we got there they said "We've been expecting you". WOOPS. Oh well. :)
