Shawn and Jennifer have been together for nearly eight years, and their story began through a shared love of photography. When Jennifer moved back to her hometown of Chatham-Kent to attend nursing school, fate stepped in. Shawn had long been passionate about nature and wildlife photography, and Jennifer found herself drawn to his stunning work—falling for his photos before she even fell for him.

Shortly after her return, both happened to be photographing a sunset at Rondeau Park. Later that night, they each posted their photos to Instagram. Shawn noticed Jennifer’s post and commented, realizing they had unknowingly captured the same sunset from the same place. That simple comment sparked a connection, and from that moment on, they never stopped talking.

A few days later, they planned to meet at Greenview Aviaries to take photos of the animals. But instead of snapping pictures, they spent the entire time talking. Their first date extended into an impromptu hike along the South Point Trail in Rondeau Park—where a deeper bond began to form.

Fast forward seven years: they returned to that same trail. Sitting together on a piece of driftwood, surrounded by the peaceful beauty of the beach, Shawn got down on one knee and asked Jennifer to spend forever with him.
