How We Met

Our Story

Who would've thought that I would end up falling in love with someone I attended school with 14 years ago. Although, Justin and I never crossed paths during that time, fate had a way of bringing us together. After Justin had graduated college from the University of Tennessee and moved back to Nashville, he had approached me several times while around on the town. It was not until the afternoon of December 17, 2012 that Justin and I ran into each other at Vanderbilt University Medical Center that we would begin to evolve. Justin was working at Vanderbilt during the time, while I was there visiting my mom while she had a mastectomy done after her last chemo treatment for Breast Cancer. Since that day Justin and I had become close.

After Justin moved to New York City in 2015, Justin and I still remained close, while later on forming a long distance relationship, flying back and forth to spend time with one another, and falling in love. In July 2017, I moved to New York City, where we have enjoyed all the great things New York has to offer together from strolling through Central Park (my favorite), Broadway shows, trying new restaurants and coffee shops, to exploring upstate New York. Justin and I savor the time we have had together so far and are very much looking forward to our future plans ahead.

The Proposal

Justin proposed to me on August 16, 2018. Although, it seemed like just an ordinary Thursday night, it turned out to not be. Justin and I were celebrating me had been living in New York for a year now. He had planned a special dinner for just the two of us at the historical Keen’s Steakhouse in Midtown. After our dinner, Justin and I were walking towards home, when he mentioned he had one more surprise for me. He then led me into a building; which turned out to be the Empire State Building. This was the one historical landmark I had been wanting to see in New York since I was young and one of the most historical architecture landmarks in the city (so of course I was ecstatic!). Justin and I went straight to the top, thinking this is part of the celebration. While mesmerized of the city's nighttime lights, Justin caught me by surprise, got down on a knee and proposed to me on the 102nd floor of the Empire State Building. It was the most memorable night of our lives!
