Sandy's Beach East

Sandy's beach is definitely going to be the place to be! It is centrally located to the hotel blocks, venue, and all the wedding events and easily walkable from these locations. This is a soft sand beach that is free!! There are great waves here, surfboard rentals, chair and umbrella rentals, and the restaurant bar Tamboo to grab something to eat or drink. Grab your chair, pack your souvenir cooler left in your hotel with some cerveza and hit the waves!

But be careful - the rip currents are very strong here.

(note: Sandy's east is in front of Tamboo and Sandy's West is in front of Jake's Java but both are easily walkable to one another. Think of it like Edwards vs. national in Long Beach)

Maria's beach is about a 5 minute drive from the wedding venue. It is a coral beach so there is not as much soft sand as at Sandy's. But it is a perfect place to surf!! Especially for beginners. There are surf lessons and board rentals offered on the beach (booking in advance is recommended for beginner lessons, use the link below) and you can Grab a medalla or a frozen daiquiri at Calypso bar and restaurant after!

If the drip coffee in your hotel room is not enough grab a latte or cappuccino here - its delicious! They also have sandwiches and pastries if you are hungry. A 15 minute walk from the hotel blocks or a 5 minute drive. This coffee shop is on Maria's beach so you can sip your coffee and watch the waves.

Little Malibu (The Marina)

Picture of Little Malibu (The Marina)
Little Malibu Surf Spot Black Eagle Rd Rincón, PR, 00602

The Marina / Little Malibu is about a 10 minute drive from the venue (and a 5 minute drive from Playa Maria). It is a soft sand beach with shade and gentle waves, perfect for small children, sun bathers, and beginner surfers. You'll have to rent a board elsewhere but if you can get it to little Malibu you're sure to have a good time. There are paddle board rentals, snorkelling tours, and fishing tours located on this beach. It is also right next to the pool bar mentioned below and there are several restaurants, coffee shops, and gift shops.

We've never been here! But we've heard good things. An adults only pool bar with swim-up service. Great if you are looking for a bougie-er hang out. It is $10 to enter and a cash bar inside. If you want to feel like you are on an upscale vacation this is a place to visit.

Rincon City Center

Picture of Rincon City Center

Visit Rincon's city center! This is about a 15 minute drive from the venue (and 5 minutes from little Malibu). The square is anchored by a church in the middle with an open plaza where musicians and artists gather on Thursday nights for an art walk. CLASSIC Colonial Caribbean vibe. There are multiple delicious restaurants, ice cream shoppes, bars, and stores located in the square. Parking may be a teensy bit tough but this is a must-see if you have never been to Rincon. (Almost every place here will have workers who speak fluent English)

If you will be in Rincon Thursday night DEFINITELY head here. Every Thursday the town square hosts an art walk with local vendors selling art, jewelry, clothing, etc. throughout the square.

P.S. If you loose your wallet because you put it in your board shorts pocket after renting a surfboard at Sandy's and need to prove you are American to get home *cough cough*, the city center has an adorable book store that will print your documents for you for about $2.50 with minimal sarcasm and maximum friendliness.

Rincón Beer Company

A full sized grocery store about 15 minutes from venue by car (close to the city center). Plenty of the workers speak English and there are plenty of American brands on the shelves.

El Faro de Rincón

A cute park between Sandy's and Maria's Beaches on the tip of Rincon. There is a lighthouse, a snack bar, and incredible views. Adam and I love to come here after surfing for a frozen drink and an emapnadilla and watch surfers at Domes Beach below. Parking is plentiful and free.
