A Boston girl and a Jersey boy meet at a work function in Philadelphia, and then go on a first date in Washington, DC a year and a half later. Confusing, for sure. But stay tuned. It starts to make sense.They both worked for Jewish organizations in Philadelphia during the summer of 2011. Jen was responsible for organizing an event that Adam did not want to go to…at all…but was required to for work purposes. To be fair, Jen didn't want to go…at all…either. Adam remembered Jen as the cute girl with way too much energy. Jen remembered Adam as being the polite guy with the weird last name. They enjoyed their meeting and then went their separate ways: Jen to Tennessee and Adam to DC.Flash forward in time. Unbeknownst to Jen, something in the universe was pulling her to move to our nation's capital. She may say that it was for work, but in truth it was because she knew that Adam was there. It had to be. Right? Right. We all agree. Adam, however, was oblivious to any such calling because he was locked away in the basement of his law school. Although one might assume it was to study, it was actually to hide from his nickname "Goobs": a short-hand for his last name that originated in college and resurfaced in law school.Through the power of coincidences, "small world" situations, and a dash of OKCupid, Jen and Adam reconnected in January 2013. Adam came up for air from law studies with a newfound sense of pride in his nickname. He demonstrated this through the OKCupid name "They Call Me Goobs." Jen was intrigued. Jen stalked Adam (digitally; no need to be concerned, folks). Adam stalked back and then eventually initiated conversation.After discovering a mutual love for mint chocolate chip ice cream and the New England Patriots, they met for a first date that left everyone's cheeks hurting from all of the smiles and laughter. Of course, their encounter in Philadelphia was immediately remembered by the two of them…nine months into the relationship. (Neither of them have ever claimed to be sharp).The days and months that followed resulted in a love story full of laughter. Adam and Jen became best friends and, on June 25, 2015, they also became engaged.They are very excited to add a new moment in time that they will share with their family and friends. On September 10, 2016, Adam and Jen will become husband and wife. At which point, everyone will be welcome to call them both Goobs.
