Q + A

What airport should I fly into?

Dublin International Airport is ideal and is located approximately 10km north of Dublin City Centre, which is accessible by bus, taxi, car, cycling or walking. A taxi/Uber will be about 25 euros ($35 CAD).

What will flights cost?

Flights may be as low as $850 round trip (from Toronto or Montreal) and up to $1500pp depending on when you book and where you're travelling from. Be sure to check Air Transat, Lufthansa, and Aer Lingus airlines as well as West Jet and Air Canada.

When is the RSVP deadline?

Please RSVP by Valentine's Day!

Do you have a registry?

No. We would love a card but please no gifts. Your presence is enough!

What should I wear?

Cocktail attire is appropriate but a long dress is fitting too if you feel like getting glam. A shirt and jacket would be nice. Paddy and Hugh will be wearing tuxes!

What is the weather like that time of year?

In early July, Dublin has highs in the low 20s and lows in around 11 degrees. The month of July has about 10 days of rain on average so prepare for anything!

Are kids welcome?

Kids are most welcome at our ceremony but unfortunately, anyone under 18 years of age cannot attend the reception. If you need help with childcare, please let us know and we can help arrange it for you.

Will the ceremony and reception be indoors or outdoors?

Both the ceremony and reception will take place indoors however, you have to travel a short distance to the reception site. The reception site, the Terrace Bar, has a (you guessed it) terrace, if you're looking for some outdoor time!

How do I get to the wedding venue?

You can Uber or walk to Dublin City Hall. It will show up easily on Google Maps and anyone you ask downtown will be able to point you in the right direction! It's a popular landmark and easy to find.

What happens after the ceremony?

Our Humanist ceremony will begin at 3:30pm sharp and last for 30 mins. Once we're officially married, we will hang out in Dublin City Hall until 5:30 for a cocktail reception. We'll have canapes and treats, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, take loads of pictures, and be serenaded by members of the Dublin String Quartet. At 5:30, we'll shuffle out into the streets of downtown Dublin for pints and more pictures. Please find your way to the reception venue for 8:00pm. We will make our grand entrance at 8:30pm.

Wait, you're not feeding us dinner?

That is correct. We have decided to have a private dinner just us. We're taking a break between the ceremony and reception to feed Hugh, bath him, and get him settled with his babysitter for the night! We'll enjoy ourselves more once we know he's squared away. We hope you can use that time to settle your littles, or keep drinking and exploring downtown Dublin.

Can I walk from the ceremony site to the reception venue?

Yes, in about 17 mins. You can also Uber. During the little break, you may have made your way that direction. We really want people to get a feel for the city and it's a lovely little walk.

Will there be food at the reception?

Yes! We will have platters of hors d'oeuvres for our guests to enjoy right at 8:00pm and some late night bites around 11:00pm.

Where should we go for dinner if we're hungry during "the break"?

• Uno Mas - Spanish large and small plates with an alternating wine list! • Etto - More Spanish tapas by the same owners of Uno Mas. • F X Buckley - named one of the top 10 steakhouses in the world! • WILDE - the Westbury Hotel (very aesthetic) • Hang Dai Chinese - modern chinese in what looks like an old subway car. • l'Gueuleton Dublin - modern french cuisine on a very cool street. • Fade St. Social - next to L'Gueuleton but more of a gastro pub. Large tables, brick walls, scandi vibes. • The Greenhouse - one of two Michelin star restaurants in Dublin! • Glover's Alley - on St. Stephen's green, local fare, stylish pink interiors! • Chapter One - for the true foodies, a two star Michelin rated restaurant.

How will I get around Dublin?

The transit system is quite good and taxis/Uber are easy to find. We recommend downloading the Yuko app in advance and having your driver's license approved. This is a car share program with numerous spots all around town to pick up and drop off a car. You can also book one longer term to travel around Ireland. It's cheaper than a rental car and you don't have to deal with a desk to book and drop off. Also, gas and insurance are included in the price.
