2022 was a very tough year for the new couple. On March 3rd, Jennifer and her father were rear-ended on the freeway in Portland by a delivery truck moving at a pretty good pace. Tom Reid's car was totaled as a result of that accident. On March 4th, Thomas was in a motorcycle accident on the freeway in Spokane. Thomas rear-ended a car after the car in front of him suddenly moved out of the lane with traffic at a dead stop in front of him. Thomas definitely had someone watching over him that day as he sustained relatively minimal injuries, both wrists and forearms were shattered and there were two weight bearing fractures in his left leg. His bike was totaled. Jennifer drove to Spokane on March 5th to spend the week with him to help ensure that he was comfortable and would be able to succeed in his recovery.

Tragedy once again befalls the Reid Household. Thomas and Sue Reid, went on a trip to Mexico for a week. On the first day, Thomas Reid slipped in water and fell, twisting his leg under and behind him. Jennifer and Sue struggled to find a way to bring him home until an angel donor stepped in and loaned the necessary money. Jennifer flew down to ensure a smooth transition. The family is eternally grateful to all those that donated and reached out - especially to our angel donor - and to our new friends Donna & Bob Pearson who invited Sue and Jennifer into their home in Mexico while awaiting transport. After 18 days in the hospital in Mexico, Thomas was medically flown home. When he arrived back in the US at Peace Health in Vancouver, WA, it was quickly determined that his left leg would require amputation. Thomas spent a total of 55 days in the hospitals, 20 days on sedation, and two weeks in intense physical therapy, before he was finally released and able to go home. Because of this tragic event, Jennifer and Thomas moved back into the house with Jennifer's parents to help as much as they could around the house as well as to adjust to this new life. Jennifer had lost her job in December and was thankfully free to assist as much as needed during this transition.

In September, a new friend mentioned that she had a litter of kittens ready for new homes and a few days later, these two fur babies entered our hearts and lives. Galinda, the good witch of the north, and Elphaba, the wick witch of the west, from the Broadway play Wicked - one of Jennifer's favorites.
