The Roby family and the Cylwik family met in Washington at the Hood Canal Church when Josiah and Jenny were little kids under ten. Neither of them really remember the first meeting but Jenny and Josiah's sister became fast friends for the next 10 plus years! It was at age 10 and 11 that Josiah was certain he liked Jenny but she only saw him as Maleah's little brother. Years passed and Jenny flew to Wisconsin where the Roby's lived to visit them when she was 16. It was at this visit that she noticed he was not a little annoying brother anymore...and at the end of the visit Josiah asked Jenny to call her dad and write her letters. She said Yes! In complete honesty she was pretty terrified but a few weeks passed and she received the first letter from Josiah. Sadly, after only 2 letters Jenny decided that the timing for a relationship was not right for them and she told Josiah she only wanted to be friends. Looking back they are both so grateful that the Lord knew the perfect timeline for their relationship. 3 years went by and during another visit to Wisconsin for Jenny to see Maleah, she and Josiah ended up on a 10 hour road trip where they re-connected as each other's friend for the second time, realizing there was a lot to be admired and treasured about the other. But again, time was not in their favor as Jenny was heading to Bible School that fall and Josiah was not looking to pursue any relationship then. They continued their friendship thru 2 phone calls during Jenny's time at school and when she came back to visit after graduation, there wasn't a lot of question between them whether or not they were interested in each other on a more romantic level. Finally after 4 years Josiah and Jenny officially started dating in July of 2025 after 3 weeks of prayer and no communication. Jenny moved to Wisconsin in September and they were engaged on September 27th! She said yes for the second time :) Even through the bumps, time, and work that it is taking them to grow together, God has and is making it abundantly clear that he has blessed a path for them and a future together of loving him, and loving each other. Thank you for being in our lives, and the investment and encouragement that you have been as we grow to be like Christ and learn personally how marriage reflects God's love for his church.
