First Date!

Picture of First Date!

In late July 2022, we matched on a dating website. Peter's love of writing, job as a social worker, and a photo of him skydiving attracted me. Peter was attracted to my love of nature, career as a teacher and a photo of her holding two baby chicks from school. After two weeks of texting and phone calls, we decided it was time to meet for our first date.

The date lasted twelve hours from meeting at Woodfield Mall and eating at the Cheesecake Factory, walking through Busse Woods, seeing the Minions movie, and ending the night at iHop.

Moving In!

After dating for 8 months (and driving back and forth from Huntley and Chicago!) we found an apartment together in Schaumburg.

Trips Together

We have taken quite a few vacations and have made it our dream to visit every state together. We started out visiting my family's place in Wisconsin and got to explore the beautiful Devil's Lake. We visited the St. Louis Zoo and Gateway Arch in Missouri, went to Wrestlemania together in Los Angeles and visited friends in California, and saw my (Jenny's) family in Las Vegas. On the Las Vegas trip, we also managed to visit Death Valley in California, the Grand Canyon in Arizona, and Zion National Park in Utah. We spent our first anniversary together in Ann Arbor, Michigan and then were able to visit Michigan again, this time in South Haven and spent some time on the beautiful beaches. Add in a few trips to the Indiana Dunes, Mammoth Cave in Kentucky, and a state park in Iowa, and we're up to 10 states together! Hoping to visited Hawaii on our honeymoon and see some of the National Parks there!

Engagement!

We decided to visit Devil's Lake in January 2024 to see the beauty of the snow in the trees and on the lake. On the way to the state park, Peter played our song "Dance with Somebody" by The Midnight on repeat. Once we got to the lake, we trudged through the snow and overlooked a beautiful frozen landscape. While I was looking at the lake, Peter pulled a card out of his pocket and handed it to me. Inside was a beautiful poem and by the time I was done reading it, Peter was down on one knee and asked mw, "Will you marry me?"
