Jenny and Steve met at the Cross-Cultural Leadership Center (CCLC) and became friends when they were both involved with the Multicultural Affairs Council. They both pursued careers in Higher Education. Every few years, they would connect at different conferences, which always seemed to be in New Orleans.

When Jenny moved back to CA, Steve offered to host her for a weekend in San Luis Obispo (SLO). After a five-hour drive and an epic weekend at SLO, they kept in touch. Steve eventually moved to the Bay Area, where they learned that they have different approaches to moving.

During the pandemic, they became closer. Kind of hard not to when they were living together in a studio apartment 24/7. Steve was working full-time and pursuing his doctorate at this time so Jenny demanded weekly date nights for him to take a break and spend time with her, thus Saturday Steak nights became a tradition. Steve perfected his cooking technique while Jenny thoroughly enjoyed the meals.

Some of their favorite memories were living in Oakland, CA. This is where they were able to have a strong community of family and friends nearby. They hosted rooftop BBQs, game nights, and pre-gaming before going out to First Fridays.

They are both now enjoying their mid-30s by focusing on their health by going to the gym at 5 a.m., eating healthier, and spending quality time with family and friends. Jenny and Steve are excited to be celebrating this next chapter in their lives.
