After suffering their own separate heartaches, Jeri and David weren't sure they would find their forever love. The last time David had dated was 1996, when an "app" was TGIFriday's term for the shared dish before the entree. Jeri had plenty of fun on the dating apps, but she was ready to throw in the towel after a bad weekend in Mississippi in March 2021. They both happened to stop at the same crawfish boil that weekend. From the moment they started talking, Jeri and David were totally immersed in each other's company. Other guests pointed and whispered as she smiled and called him "D" and made him feel special. He rapped "Paul Revere" and she "shot the gift" with him, word-for-word. As they quickly learned, they both wanted to "go deep" in every conversation, empathized with each other's struggles and celebrated the other's triumphs. They knew they had found their partner for life, the one they would have "cawfee tawk" with on the porch, snuggle (and a lot more) with in the Sleep Number, throw their shoulders out with while signaling first downs at the Dome and travel the world with, when they're 80 -- and beyond.
