Jerika and James met in 2014 through a mutual friend, who just so happens to be the best man (Michael Hodge).

Here is how this love story began. Jerika walked into the barbershop to get a haircut on one rainy day. As she was sitting in the chair, Micheal started asking questions such as whether she was single. Jerika responded yes. After that, he began telling her about this guy who was interested in her. He explained that the guy had seen her on a previous visit and had been looking for her ever since, trying to talk to her. She was totally surprised by all of this. Micheal asked her if she would like for him to get her in contact with him. At first, Jerika was reluctant but eventually said yes. So Micheal got James on the phone and passed the phone to Jerika, and they began to talk. James asked Jerika on a date that day, but unfortunately, she had to work, so they made plans for the next day.

Their first date was amazing, the conversation was good, James was a gentleman, and very respectful. After that, they talked every day and went on several more dates until they made it official. James and Jerika's love moved fast. Within 6 months, they were living together. Four years later, in 2018, they were expecting their first child together. At the baby shower, James decided that it was time to make Jerika his wife, so he got some assistance from his sister in putting on a performance at the shower. James asked Jerika to marry him. She was overjoyed and said YES!

Jerika and James' engagement journey was only supposed to be two years, but things didn't happen that way. Between being new parents, dealing with life issues, and then Covid happening, their journey took a little longer, and that's okay. In that time, they were really able to embrace each other, experience trials and tribulations with each other, and just do life with one another.

Now, six years later, they are ready to officially be husband and wife.
