Jerney: My friend Alaina spontaneously asked if I wanted to meet her friend Jacob. Without a second thought, I agreed and we made the quick drive to his apartment. Jacob, Alaina and I hung out while Josh sat quietly watching a football game on the TV. He barely said a word the whole time I was there. Little did he know that I would spend some of the next several months wondering how I could get him to speak.


Josh: My first thought when I met Jerney was how I could make a joke about having a Dodge Journey. Then I was just quiet the entire time after that because I was too nervous to talk to her. I did make a joke about pyramids but it went over her head. Thankfully, it was not the last joke I got to make that went over her head!

April 1, 2022

Jerney: Alaina and I were driving around and I thought we were close to Josh and Jacob's apartment. Believing so, I asked Alaina if we could stop by their apartment so I could talk to Josh. Even though I was wrong about being nearby, she agreed to drive us there. We had barely settled into their apartment when Alaina sold me out saying, "She's been wanting to see you again, Josh." That must have broken the seal--Josh stopped being silent and started flirting. IT WORKED. I texted him that night and told him that he needed to ask me on a date. Plans were made for the following day.

Josh: Me and my brother just got back from Five Guys (greatest place on Earth) and Jacob told me that Jerney and Alaina were going to swing by. I was nervous, but incredibly glad to get a second chance to see Jerney. I tried to talk and did ok at first, but things really took off when Alaina made some comment about how Jerney wanted to see me. After that, I got very comfortable and it ended with us exchanging numbers and setting up a first date for the next day!

April 2, 2022

Jerney: I WAS SOOOOO NERVOUS. I called my aunt right before I arrived to Josh's apartment to tell her how nervous I felt. It was a perfect first date. We went to Chili's, watched the stars at an abandoned observatory, and got ice cream at Andy's. It was perfect for me.

Josh: I remember being so nervous when Jerney was on her way to my apartment that I had to pee like 7 times while waiting. But thankfully she was very easy to be around. We went to Chilis first, where I discovered she likes to sit on the same side of the booth as me. That was funny and cute. Then we went to look at the stars on the hood of my car at a place that was secluded. It was magical, and the first moment I really started to feel something. Then we finished it off at Andy's for ice cream. It was an amazing first date!

Jerney: I had been dropping LOTS of hints. like, "Everyone wants to know if we're dating... Should I tell them you're my boyfriend or..?" I thought that was a pretty clear hint. He finally asked me out. It felt like I had been waiting forever!


Josh: I actually thought we were already boyfriend and girlfriend, but Jerney asked me one night when we would make it official. She also told me to only ask in person. On April 10, I finally asked her and she gleefully said yes! The rest is history.

Jerney: Unbeknownst to Josh, I had planned a surprise golden birthday party for him. So many people came to celebrate! The look on his face when he walked in was priceless. What I did not expect was a proposal! After the party, a few of us left to pet his cat Megatron. I came around the corner from the kitchen and there he was on one knee in the living room. I am so glad I said yes! I want to spend my life with him. I knew pretty early on that he was my one.


Josh: I had been attempting to plan my proposal for weeks, but one of the snags was Jerney needed it filmed. This meant attempting to have a friend in the vicinity while being inconspicuous. It ended up being unplanned, since I was thrown a surprise birthday party the Saturday before my birthday. All my friends were there. I felt so loved in that moment, I decided I would propose after the party, using one of my friends already there to film it. After the party, we went back to my place with a few friends to see my cat, Megatron. When we did, I quickly grabbed the ring, and flashed it to my friend Landon and brother Jacob, and told Landon to film. Jacob distracted Jerney while I got in position to propose. When she came back in the main room, I was on one knee. She was stunned, and it was exactly the reaction I wanted. Then she said yes. To us, forever.
