Our Wedding

Once upon a time—though not that long ago—we met, and the universe wasted no time letting us know that this was going to be something different. It wasn’t one of those picture-perfect, love-at-first-sight fairytales. No, our story was full of sparks, but also full of lessons—sometimes beautiful, sometimes messy, always pushing us toward something bigger than we could see at the time.  From the very beginning, fate was weaving our lives together in ways we didn’t even realize. Before we knew we’d have a son, before we knew what our love would become, there was already a sign—literally. The numbers on his license plate matched the exact day our son would one day be born. A quiet whisper from the universe, a nudge saying, “Pay attention—this is bigger than you think.”  And yet, we resisted. Oh, did we resist.  Love came fast, but so did the lessons. We were two strong-willed people, both carrying our own pasts, both learning how to build something real while still figuring out who we were. Some days, we got it right—other days, we crashed and burned. We fought for space, for understanding, for the version of love we thought we needed, only to realize love had its own plan.  Then, everything changed.  We became parents. Suddenly, it wasn’t just about us anymore. The late-night debates turned into late-night feedings. The “Who’s right?” arguments turned into “Who’s changing the next diaper?” We were exhausted, overwhelmed, completely out of our depth—and yet, somehow, exactly where we were meant to be.  Our son became our greatest teacher. He softened us, stretched us, held up a mirror to all the parts of ourselves we hadn’t yet faced. Through him, we learned that love isn’t just about passion or chemistry—it’s about patience, forgiveness, and showing up even when it’s hard.  Year after year, we grew. We let go of the need to control, to be right, to have it all figured out. We learned to trust. To surrender. To lean into love, even when it felt scary.  And now, seven years later—after all the lessons, the laughter, the chaos, and the quiet moments in between—we’re standing here, ready to say yes all over again. Not just to marriage, but to the life we’ve already built. To the love we fought for. To the journey that, no matter how unpredictable, has always led us right back to each other.  So here’s to us—the couple who turned resistance into resilience, growth into love, and a wild, unexpected beginning into the kind of story that was always meant to be.  Now, let’s turn the page and start the next chapter.

Here’s our Best Man—the groom’s younger brother, who went from being so picky he wouldn’t even consider a piece of broccoli to becoming a sharp, savvy businessman always ready to lend a hand—provided everything meets his sky-high standards. With a face that could easily be mistaken for Jake Gyllenhaal’s doppelgänger and a taste in women that’s as exclusive as his help (only petite ladies with big personalities make the cut), he’s proof that growing up doesn’t mean giving up on being discerning. Cheers to a guy who’s as dependable as he is selectively impressive!

Andrew 

Lauren- the most loyal, thoughtful, and slightly over-caffeinated overthinker I know. We met through Zack—so really, I owe him for introducing me to one of the best people in my life. Lauren is the kind of friend who would bury a body for you, but not before making a detailed pro/con list, triple-checking legal loopholes, and stress-Googling ‘best shovel for sandy soil.’ She loves Disneyland more than most people love their own families, which explains why she treats every decision in life like she’s picking the perfect Lightning Lane reservation. But truly, I couldn’t ask for a better friend, and I’m beyond lucky to have her by my side—probably still overthinking my bouquet choice as we speak! I guess I’ll give Zack my dinner rolls for giving me a best friend.”

Lauren 

Robby—the brother from another mother, our resident cannabis savant who could school half the world on trichomes if he wasn’t too busy obsessing over every detail. Sure, his OCD might have him rearranging his rolling papers and cigar collection into neat little universes of perfection, and while that attention to detail can sometimes drive us all a little crazy, it’s exactly what makes him the rock-solid friend the groom and the rest of us can’t live without. And when he’s not schooling us on the finer points of bud or perfecting his bowling league strikes, he’s lighting up a cigar like it’s a victory celebration for being the most meticulously awesome guy around. Cheers to Robby—intelligent, annoyingly precise, and absolutely irreplaceable!

Robert 

Diana—the life of the party and the best titi Jayden could ever have. She’s equal parts fun, loving, and a terrible influence when it comes to staying up way too late and indulging in ‘Titi’s snacks.’ Her Instagram algorithm is pure chaos—one minute it’s deep wisdom, the next it’s a conspiracy theory about why ducks walk the way they do. And if you ever find yourself in a late-night deep talk with her, just know it will eventually turn into a full-blown Bone Thugs-N-Harmony concert. We love you, Diana—now let’s make it through the night in one piece!”

Diana 

Oh, Ryan—our laid-back groomsman whose place is less a home and more a perpetual campsite. With unclosed cabinets and trash cans that overflow like a poorly packed cooler, it’s clear his childhood adventures with Alan taught him one thing: why clean when you can snack and camp out in style? Whether he’s off on a camping trip or just raiding the fridge for seltzers and snacks, Ryan’s knack for living life on his own wild, carefree terms is exactly what makes him unforgettable.

let’s talk about Michelle—aka ‘90% Mitch.’ The woman who does almost everything at full force, but always leaves just a little room for chaos. She’s a total badass at her job, running HR at a law firm like a boss, but the real case she’s constantly investigating? Mold. If there’s even a whiff of a wellness trend, Michelle’s already read three books on it and has a 10-step detox plan ready. She’s the life of the party, loves to party, and somehow still wakes up the next morning to crush her workouts—because, of course, she’s also a fitness machine. An amazing mother, a ride-or-die friend, and an unstoppable force of laughter and good vibes, Michelle is truly one of a kind. She may only give things 90%, but luckily, that’s still more than most people at their best. We love you, Mitch—now grab a drink, and let’s see if you can give 100% just this once!”

Oh, Chris—sorry, Darna—the only guy who ghosts your texts but somehow has the energy to reply to Instagram DMs like it’s his job. He’ll leave you on read for days but will drop everything to repost a Drake lyric like it’s a spiritual awakening. Honestly, at this point, we’re just waiting for him to slide into the groom’s DMs with “Hey big head” instead of giving a proper wedding toast.

Chris 

Alina, you’re the queen of style and grace—dancing through life with a heart as kind as they come. But let’s be honest: your texting game is slower than a waltz in molasses! Jayden might call you his second titi his nina, but even he knows your replies take longer than a full dance routine. Keep dazzling us on the dance floor, even if your phone never quite keeps up!

Alina 

Oh, Will—the only guy whose playbook consists solely of baseball stats and tequila shots. At every family party, he’s so busy perfecting his swing and lining up his next shot that he barely has time to dodge the real curveball: his wife, the groom’s sister, who could strike out anyone with just one look. Cheers to Will, playing the minor leagues in marriage while trying to keep his head in the game.

Brittany is one of those friends you don’t talk to every day, but the second you do, it’s like no time has passed—mostly because she hasn’t changed at all. She packed up and moved to Arizona, probably to avoid the evidence of our party years, but distance doesn’t mean a thing. She’s still the same ride-or-die, still ready for a good time, and still somehow convincing me that bad ideas are actually great ones. Brittany, I love you, I appreciate you, and I fully expect you to be on your best worst behavior at this wedding. Cheers to you!

Oh, Zack—the human garbage disposal disguised as a groomsman. This man doesn’t just love food; he loves your food. Doesn’t matter if it’s on your plate, in your hand, or halfway to your mouth—if you blink, it’s gone. At this point, the real wedding miracle isn’t love—it’s if Zack makes it through the night without stealing someone’s dinner roll.

my honorary second child, and a 20-year-old Disney fanatic. She’s an amazing soccer star and works hard in school, but when it came to responsibilities—like changing Jayden’s diapers—suddenly, she’s nowhere to be found. She may be scoring goals and acing exams, but her heart will always belong to video games and Disney sing-alongs. Natalie, you’re the one person who can master the field, the classroom, and the art of avoiding adulting! 

Natalie 

Oh, Gabe—the cigar-smoking, turkey-frying, bowling league champion who somehow makes rolling a ball down a lane his entire personality. He’s been married for over 10 years, which is impressive, considering his dry humor is harder to digest than his deep-fried turkey. Honestly, listening to Gabe crack a joke is like smoking one of his cigars—an acquired taste, and not everyone survives the experience.

Valerie, we’ve been causing chaos together since we were 19—crashing baseball parties, tearing up those hermosa bars, and living it up in between. Now you’re the on-the-go mom rocking jeans at home like it’s haute couture, and while you might be the reigning champion of flaky plans, you always somehow show up right when it counts. You juggle life’s ups and downs with a heart bigger than your schedule, proving that even when you’re a walking “oops, I forgot” moment, you’re the one we need in our corner. Keep being your unpredictable, loving, and unstoppable self!
