VENUE ETIQUETTE

Below is a list of guidelines the venue requested us to inform both the guests and the wedding party about. While not all of these guidelines are applicable to both groups, we kindly ask that you familiarize yourself with this information. 1. The minister of the church is in charge of the rehearsal as well as the wedding ceremony and shall be consulted before any furnishings are moved.Further, the wedding party or person(s) appointed by the wedding party shall return all furnishings to their proper place. 2. The RPC Sanctuary has been approved by the Fire Marshall to accommodate up to 115 persons. This cannot be amended. Thus, additional chairs are not allowed in the Sanctuary. 3. Extreme caution must be used when purchasing candles for a candelabra. Candles shall only be used in the chancel area and must be the dripless type. (By definition the chancel area is the area immediately in front of the pulpit and the raised platform. Therefore, No candles shall be placed in the windows, aisles, etc.) “Drop Cloths” shall be used beneath all candelabras (regardless of the use of dripless candles). 4. Family pew markers may be used, but shall not be fastened to the pew by adhesive tape, staples, tacks, or clamps. They must be fastened by elastic or ribbon to avoid damaging the pews. 5. Decorations that would mar the walls, woodwork, floors, or furnishings may not be used. Plants that require water must be protected against damage to carpet and floors. The church’s seasonal decorations shall not be moved. 6. Rooms below the Sanctuary are available for the bride and bridal party to dress. The groom and his party may use a room in the Fellowship Hall for dressing. All rooms must be left as found. The wedding party is responsible for cleaning these rooms afterwards (disposing of trash, placing furniture back in order, etc.).RPC is not responsible for items brought to the church if lost, stolen, or damaged. 7. The Fellowship Hall may be reserved for the Rehearsal Dinner and/or Reception. The use of the church kitchen is limited to warming and serving food. A catering service is strongly recommended. There is to be no alcoholic beverages served on church property. 8. The wedding reception may be held at the Fellowship Hall provided prior arrangements have been made. Removing decorations and basic clean-up (including outside grounds) are the responsibility of the wedding party. The church will not be responsible for any decorations left after the wedding and reception are concluded. Fees will be deducted from your deposit if damages have been found or if the facility and grounds are not cleaned after the wedding. 9. Rice or confetti shall not be used. We suggest using bird seed or bubbles. Both should be used outside only. 10. The use of any tobacco product is strictly prohibited in any of the buildings. 11. Food and drink shall not be taken into the Sanctuary. 12. The use of alcoholic beverages or chemical substances is STRICTLY PROHIBITED in all of the church buildings or anywhere on the church grounds. 13. Any variations from these rules must be approved by the minister and session.

More Than Friends

Not too long ago in a college far, far away, there was a freshman class of students that had just started attending Master's Baptist College in North Dakota. There were two individuals in this class that had no intention of becoming friends with each other, much less getting engaged and married. Throughout this freshman semester the two individuals grew to communicate well and enjoy each other's company exceedingly. There were trials, tests (both in life and academically), and growth in both individuals' lives. Through this experience these two individuals became fast friends and grew to depend on God and on each other in ways that they didn't expect. Near the end of the school year, God began to open the eyes of the two students to the possibility of a relationship deeper than a friendship. After much prayer and difficulty God made a way for these two individuals to pursue a relationship that would end in the ceremony of which you, the reader, are considering attending.
