A little bit outside of the city, Loveless is a classic Southern restaurant known for their delicious biscuits and jam. Be prepared to wait for a table - but know there is plenty to explore while you do! In addition to the restaurant, there are several shops, yard games, and places to explore on the property.
Hillsboro has a variety of shops, restaurants, and coffee places all in one street and is extremely walkable. We like Fido (coffee), Jeni's (ice cream), Dumpling House, Tavern (American food), Satco (VERY hole in the wall tacos and queso). There is even a small indie movie theater called The Belcourt, if you are looking for an indoor activity to beat the heat!
If you are looking to eat or bar hop, we recommend the Midtown area, between Broadway and Vanderbilt's campus. Vanderbilt's campus is a great place to walk around!
12 South is a neighborhood full of restaurants, coffee shops, and boutiques! It's a great way to spend an afternoon exploring in the city. We particularly love Buttermilk Ranch (amazing brunch and pastries), Edley's (barbeque), and visiting all the little shops.
Germantown is another neighborhood with great food and lots of boutique shopping! It is notable for its walkability and historic charm. We REALLY love it - so much so that we lived in the neighborhood for two years.
For food, we love Red Bicycle Cafe (coffee), Little Hats Italian Market (SPECTACULAR sandwiches), Monell's (family style traditional Southern - if you're looking for a quintessential Nashville experience, this is one of them!), Butchertown Hall (upscale tacos and barbeque), Mother's Ruin (bar with excellent drinks and snacks).
The Farmer's Market is open year round and has several permanent restaurants and shops in addition to their weekend vendors! It is right next to Bicentennial Park, which is a great place to take a walk in the city.
