A Journey of Love, Laughter, and Life Together

The BeginningEvery love story has a beginning, and ours started when two people swiped right. We were both single parents, not really looking for anything specific just good conversations and companionship. Sometimes, the universe has a way of nudging two souls together, and as we exchanged texts shared stories of our past, dreams for our futures, favorite bands and travel desires, a quiet spark began to glow. Over the course of a month of texting back and forth, our schedules finally allowed us to plan our first official face to face encounter.

The First DateSeptember 9, 2023 marks the date it all began. Our first official date – Topgolf. The day was hot and humid and it was raining when we first arrived. We found ourselves enjoying a fun game of golf filled with lots of laughter and finding out how many more things we shared in common. By the end of the date, it was time to pay and the awkward moment commenced. Lany offered to help pay the tab, but the gentleman Jesse is, he wasn’t to thrilled by the offer. When the waiter returned, Jesse turned to him and explain what had transpired when trying to pay the bill. He boldly said to the waiter, “She just asked to split the bill on our first date. The only way I would consider it, is if she agrees to a second date.” And with that, a second date was now in our near future. By the end of the date, it was clear that our connection that had grown over texts, had now grown some roots during our first in person encounter. It’s safe to say at this point, we both had no idea that our lives would intertwine so deeply and quickly.

First ImpressionsWhat stood out most after our first date wasn’t just the laughter that flowed so easily or the common ground we discovered, but the sense of comfort, safety, curiosity and butterflies that fluttered between us. When we finally parted ways, hearts unexpectedly light, both surprised from an unpredicted great first date, we both felt the gentle nudge of something special just beginning to unfold.

The First Year, 1+1=5After the first date, we found ourselves spending most of our free time together.&nbsp;We had dates exploring South Florida on the weekends when our schedules would allow, and week nights cooking dinner for the kids and slowly blending the bunch.&nbsp;As weeks turned into months, our adventures grew. &nbsp;We explored new restaurants, enjoyed cheering for our kids at sporting events and concerts, and letting loose at music festivals.&nbsp;We simply built a bond, trust, and love that neither of us were expecting. In March of 2024, we combined our households under one roof, 1+1 = 5.&nbsp;As parents, we only want what’s best for our children, and we were cautious when it came time to blend our crew. &nbsp;Although there were some challenging moments, the amount of laugher and love that fills our walls turned our house into a home. &nbsp;The relationships between the kids, both together and individually, has honestly been one of the highlights of combining our lives. Travel became an important part of our story. &nbsp;Whether we were discovering hidden gems in our own city or somewhere only a few hours away, we learned that taking a break for just the two of us was important and we both truly enjoyed exploring and learning something new with each other. &nbsp;In April 2024, we found ourselves with a completely kid free weekend.&nbsp;When these weekends rarely come around we try and take full advantage.&nbsp;Jesse planned a quick little get away to Bush Gardens for this weekend.&nbsp;As we walked around enjoying the animals, we fed the giraffe and just after passing the penguins, Lany’s favorite, the first “I Love You” was said.&nbsp;A magical moment that just made our world stop.&nbsp;After that, in every new experience and even in the mundane, we found laughter, love, safety, support, and a shared curiosity that made even the simplest moments feel magical.

The ProposalIt was on a Monday night.&nbsp;We had just finished cleaning up dinner and were settling into the living room to watch Monday night football.&nbsp;Lany was working on her computer, the Texans vs. Dallas playing on the television in the background.&nbsp;It was honestly a little weird, all three kids came and sat on the couch and got along, strange I tell you.&nbsp;Jesse walked into the bedroom.&nbsp;When he returned, he walked over to the desk where Lany was sitting and dropped to one knee.&nbsp;He asked the one question that would change the course of our lives forever. Through happy tears and joyful laughter from three excited kids, Lany said yes – without any hesitation, the easiest yes ever, not just to a wedding day, but to a lifetime of partnership, adventure, laughter, learning, and unwavering love.&nbsp;That moment, simple and perfect in its sincerity, became the foundation of our new chapter. Looking ForwardAs we prepare to walk down the aisle, we do so with immense gratitude—for each other, for the journey that brought us here, and for those who have supported us along the way. We are excited to continue writing our story, hand in hand, hearts open to all the adventures that lie ahead. Marriage, to us, is not just a celebration of our love, but a commitment to grow, support, and inspire each other every single day. It’s a promise to cherish the ordinary moments and to find joy in the unexpected. It’s the beginning of a new chapter, one we are thrilled to share with our family, friends, and community.

Our Story

As the bride’s brother, her longest secret keeper, and friend, David proudly accepted the role of “Man” of Honor.  From childhood adventures and arguments to adult accomplishments and milestones, David has always been there for Lany— offering support, honesty, laughter, and love every step of the way. Today, David stands with the Bride and Groom as a part of a growing family, looking forward to gaining a brother-in-law and watching the love and laughter of our newly formed family grow.

Best Man is the groom’s service brother, Jordan, who has not only been a steadfast companion but a true pillar in Jesse’s life for over 13 years.  As a member of the US Marine Corps, Jordan has exemplified strength, sacrifice, and loyalty.  All qualities that have defined his relationship with his brother, both on and off duty. Through the highs and lows of service and life, he has always been there for Jesse — a protector, a confidant, and an unwavering source of support. Today, Jordan stands proudly by his brother’s side, honored to celebrate the beginning of this new chapter and the love between the Bride and Groom.

Sharing the responsibilities of “Maid of Honor” with David, is the bride’s daughter, Elizabeth.  For 11 years, Elizabeth has been a blessing by her mother’s side.  Elizabeth has been a constant source of motivation, strength, learning and laughter for Lany even when life threw some speedbumps their way.  Having watched the Bride and Groom’s relationship blossom and develop, we hope that our love will be a guiding example for Elizabeth in years to come.

We are not just joining two people.  We are joining two families, and we are honored to have our children by our sides to share in our bond.

Serving as a groomsman, is the groom’s son Julius.  At 17, Julius has already shown the qualities of a young man with remarkable strength, wisdom, and integrity.  The deep bond between father and son is evident in how Julius is always by Jesse’s side — through the ups and downs, the laughs and lessons.  Looking up to his father, asking the questions, watching the remarkable example of a man and father, all while growing into his own.  A strong independent young man, looking forward to his future.

Today, as Julius stands alongside his father, he’s not just marking a moment in time, but the beginning of a new chapter in their shared journey — one that promises even more memories, laughter, lessons and growth.

Our bridesmaid, Kestrel, is the groom’s military sister and someone who has exemplified strength, loyalty, and love throughout her life. As a dedicated member of the US Marine Corps, she has faced challenges with courage and resilience.  No matter where her duty took her, she’s always remained a constant and loving presence for her friends and family. Kestrel’s unwavering support has shaped her 13 year bond with her brother Jesse, and today, she stands proudly beside the Bride and Groom to celebrate the beautiful love between them.  Her presence and role on our wedding day is a reminder that family, no matter the distance or duty, will always find a way to be close.

Taking on the very important role of Ring Security, is the groom’s son, Rome.  At 13, Rome already shows the strength, responsibility, and heart of someone who takes his duties very seriously.  With his watchful eye and quick reflexes, he’ll be sure to keep the rings safe and sound until the moment they are needed.

More than just the protector of precious symbols, Rome is a very important part of this day.  Standing proudly by his Dad’s side as they start a new chapter in their lives celebrating love, family, and the future ahead.
