Bre and Mel became inseparable while living together at K-State, and their bond has only grown stronger over the years. No one makes Mel laugh harder, especially when they’re jamming to Hamilton or road-tripping or stopping for chips and queso. Bre is always in her corner, offering unwavering support and honest advice. Her patience, kindness, and humility inspire Mel to be a better Catholic and a better person. Mel is beyond grateful to have Bre by her side on this special journey!

Danny and Jesse have been best friends since kindergarten, and after all these years, he’s still the one Jesse can always count on for a laugh, a reality check, or a perfectly timed sarcastic comment. Now thriving in North Carolina, Danny has fully embraced his role as a fashion icon—rocking loud Hawaiian shirts with the confidence of a runway model—and crafting salads so colorful and elaborate they practically deserve their own spotlight. It’s peak Danny—bold, unapologetic, and always living life with flair. He’s been a vibrant constant through every chapter of Jesse’s life, and Jesse couldn’t imagine this day without him.

Anna and Mel have been best friends since 5th grade when they got in trouble for talking in Mrs. Thomas' class—and they haven’t stopped since! They’ve been through it all together, always having each other’s backs. Anna is Mel’s soul sister, the one who’s always up for an adventure, a concert, or a spontaneous moment. No matter what, she brings energy, fun, and a whole lot of laughter. Mel couldn’t imagine this day without her!

Jonathan and Jesse  have been friends since kindergarten, and over the years they have shared a lot—laughter, challenges, and countless unforgettable moments. Jon currently works at Spirit AeroSystems, where he somehow finds time to pursue his longtime passion: gynecology. While he took a less traditional route—choosing hands-on experience over medical school—he runs a modest side practice out of the tunnels beneath Spirit. It’s all driven by a genuine admiration for the female anatomy. Jonathan’s loyalty and one-of-a-kind perspective have always made him someone Jesse can count on, and Jesse is lucky to have him by his side on such an important day.

Mikki is the big sister who does it all—she makes Mel laugh until she can’t breathe, gives the best advice, and always knows when it’s time to grab a beer and enjoy the moment. Her laugh is completely contagious, and no one can be around her without smiling. She’s fiercely protective and always has Mel’s back, listening, understanding, and wanting the best for her. Through every high and low, Mikki has been a constant source of love and support. Mel is beyond grateful to have her as a sister and by her side on this special day.

Jordan and Jesse have been great friends since middle school, and from day one, he’s always been the kind of guy who can make you laugh and show up when it counts. These days, Jordan is a professional manscaper—and not just any manscaper. He runs his fully mobile grooming practice out of a completely renovated ice cream truck. It’s part spa, part adventure, and 100% Jordan. He’s always had a passion for trimming bushes, and now he’s living the dream, one precision fade at a time. Jesse couldn’t imagine getting married without Jordan standing beside him on this special day.

As Mel’s big sister and lifelong partner in crime, Madi has been there for it all—pulling the neighbor’s cats’ tails, creating their own secret language, and breaking down every Taylor Swift lyric. They’ve shared friends, swapped teaching ideas, and sent each other endless TikToks, always learning from one another. Madi’s creativity and artistic talent never cease to amaze, but what Mel loves most is her constant support—always offering a shoulder to cry on and an ear to listen. She just gets Mel in a way only a big sister can. Mel is so grateful to have her by her side on this special day!

Jesse has known Dalton since they were kids, and over the years, they have shared a ton of laughs and unforgettable memories. He’s always been the guy Jesse can count on, whether it’s for a crazy adventure or just a good time. These days, Dalton’s been thriving as a Human Ventilation and Airflow Specialist—basically, he’s the go-to guy for unclogging personal ducts and making sure everything stays cool under pressure. It’s a job that requires both skill and a certain level of finesse, and Dalton’s absolutely killing it. From childhood shenanigans to life’s big moments, Jesse is lucky to have him by his side as he takes this next step.

Marki is Mel’s baby sister, her roommate, and one of her closest friends. Over the years, they’ve shared countless laughs, late-night sitcom marathons, and the daily adventures of life with their wild (but lovable) dog, Peaches. Marki is the quiet and steady to Mel’s loud and chaotic, always bringing a sense of calm and balance no matter what life throws their way. She has been a constant source of love, support, and laughter, and having her as a bridesmaid is just another reminder of how lucky Mel is to have her by her side—not just on this special day, but always.

Jesse met Andrew back in high school and they've been close ever since. Andrew is a man of many talents, but his most unique skill is in quality assurance for a very specific kind of sample. Let’s just say he’s a specialist in the evaluation of future generations—working hands-on (and equipment-free) to ensure only the highest standards are met. It’s not a job you’ll find in a textbook, but Andrew approaches it with focus, finesse, and a surprising amount of instinct. Jesse is lucky to have such a loyal, hilarious, and completely one-of-a-kind friend standing with him on the big day.

Abby isn’t just a cousin—she’s basically the fifth Deters sister at this point. She fits right into the chaos like she was always meant to be there. She and Mel have a special bond (and a very serious, never-ending debate over who’s actually Grandma’s favorite). Through all of life’s craziness, Abby is the calm, steady presence that keeps everyone grounded. She’s more of a sister than a cousin, and there was never a question that she’d be standing by Mel’s side on the big day!

Jared has been one of Jesse’s closest friends for as long as he can remember, with a bond built on years of laughter, debates, and wild ideas. These days, Jared is known for leading Flat Earth trivia nights every Thursday at Ewertz Oil, where the arguments are just as strong as the coffee. By day, he’s a dedicated registered nurse for ferrets, bringing care and calm to some of the world’s most misunderstood creatures. Jesse is proud to have him standing by his side—there’s no one else quite like Jared.

Kaylee and Mel became close in college, and from there, the adventures never stopped. From countless memories in Manhattan to summers by the pool and all the little moments in between, their friendship has only grown stronger. Kaylee is the kind of friend who celebrates Mel’s wins like they’re her own, always cheering her on with the biggest heart. She’s a prayer warrior, a constant source of love and support, and someone who always shows up. Mel is beyond grateful to have been adopted into the Konda family.

Matlin has been by Mel’s side since high school, through all of life’s ups, downs, and everything in between. She’s the friend who tells it like it is—always honest, always real, and always looking out for Mel’s best interests. Whether it’s giving the best advice or just being a steady, dependable presence, Matlin pushes Mel to be her best self. They’ve grown so much together over the years, and no matter what, she’s always had Mel’s back.

Luke was Jesse’s little brother, and though his time here was far too short, his presence has never faded. Some of Jesse’s favorite memories are taking Luke sledding on snowy days, the two of them bundled up and laughing as they zipped through the cold. He remembers them hanging out with Grandpa John, soaking up stories and warmth, and the silly things Jesse would do just to make Luke laugh—that high-pitched giggle that could light up a whole room. If Luke were here today, Jesse knows they’d be incredibly close, sharing jokes, late-night talks, and the kind of bond only brothers understand. He carries Luke with him always—missed deeply, remembered fully, and forever part of this day.

Luke Kraus (November 19, 1998- February 12, 2002)

Gavin was one of Jesse’s best friends—someone he met in middle school and instantly clicked with. They spent their teenage years doing all kinds of reckless, hilarious things, usually with Gavin behind the wheel of his beat-up ’67 Chevy. He passed away in 2011 at just 17, but not a day goes by that Jesse doesn’t think about him. Gavin had a huge impact on the person Jesse is today, and there’s no doubt he should be standing here as a groomsman. He’s honored in spirit, always.

Gavin Harp (September 14, 1993 - March 25, 2011)

Cole, better known to us as BarBelly, was the kind of friend who lit up every room. Jesse and Cole became close in high school, and their friendship was full of laughter, late nights, and a long list of shenanigans that definitely can’t be written down here. Cole had a rare gift for bringing people together—he was friends with everyone, no matter their circle, and somehow made it all feel like one big family. When he passed in 2016, it left a hole in the community that still hasn’t healed. He made a lasting impact on so many, and there’s no doubt he’d be raising hell and raising a toast with us today.

Jesse and Melanie aren’t blocking off hotel rooms, but they do have a couple of nearby hotels they recommend for anyone looking to stay close to the reception. Hampton Inn – 10047 West 29th St N, Wichita, KS 67205 Holiday Inn Express – 10750 W Hampton Lakes St, Maize, KS 67101 Both are just a quick drive away and super convenient. If you’re coming in from out of town, these are great spots to relax and be close to all the fun.

Heavenly Father, We thank You for the gift of love and the calling to the holy sacrament of marriage. As Jesse and Melanie prepare to unite their lives in Your sacred covenant, we ask for the intercession of St. Raphael the Archangel, guide and protector of those journeying in love.St. Raphael, faithful companion and healer, walk with Jesse and Melanie in this season of preparation. Help them to grow in patience, understanding, and trust. Lead them to deeper prayer, clearer communication, and a greater love for God and each other. Protect their hearts from fear and distraction, and bless their path with peace and joy. May their love be rooted in Christ, and may their marriage reflect His faithful and selfless love. Amen.
